Cool, love these little things that come up from time to time, the small background things that make the difference.

    Nice stuff!

Hi had to put this on here as I have just finished my Goldeneye device. has taken months mainly at the weekends
it is all cut by hand as I don't have a milling machine. the main alluminium halves started as two solid plates.
lights are on a tilt switch so when it sits stood up on display they are off when the device is tilted they come on automatically
many hours of work but very happy with the result now to make the keys!

thanks for your all your kind comments
this is the Moonraker dart gun i made in the summer. only had a drill and saw- the long grooves in the barrel are cut by hand then the one around the barrel are done in a drill with a needle file (ruins the file but cheaper than a lathe).
the edges are a second barrel cut in half and pinned in place. the rest is screwed together. I am making the darts and about 1/2 way with them

I started many many years ago collecting bond vehicles now have 350+
I couldnt get a model of scaramanga's flying car so I made one last year. I don't have a picture to hand ( but can take one and post it if your interested you can see it behind the Solex) I wanted to expand the collection with props I brought a limted edition golden gun as i couldnt buy the parts to make one. But when looking at other props i thought i would have a go at making my own. I have always been good with my hands and have lots of patience This is the first device i made last year. the Solex Agitator. I will admit I did have the letters and numbers engraved by a professional , i tried on scrap alluminium but it wasnt good enough and one slip it would be ruined.

next on the list to make is the goldeye keys , the throwing knife from frwl , compreesed air pellet from lald , model of the goldeneye train ( i got lucky with a railway enthusiasts magazine which explains exactly how a uk train was modified to look like a amoured russian one ), the stinger missile from twine i have a kit for that the missle locator in card twine and if i can get hold of a gun stock parts a pinton gun so will be busy :)

Amazing work again -{ where are you based mate? and what else do you have lined up?
  • martini man 2martini man 2 Posts: 14MI6 Agent
thanks. I am based in cornwall
i am probably going to make the frwl throwing knife next already have the metal , although I am also collecting bits for the ltk signature gun I have the bi colour leds and some switches and the pistol grip is on its way my plan is to perfect that first as the rest of it looks relativly straight forward I want to have the leds on red when turned on then when the grip is squeezed change to green. I think thisis what they did in the film . the grip in the film dosn't exsist from what i can tell. I think it was modified to contain micro switches batteries leds etc hence its strange shape.I also have picked up the prisim the scope sits on as it was a bargin but i am still trying to get the Hasselbald 500 although a kiev 88 is almost identical and a whole lot lot cheaper so i might use that. a broken Hasselbald body made £234 on ebay this week it was only being sold as spares with no back no lens !
another thing on ebay this week was a model of the vanquish counter measure gun 1-1 scale made of thin plastic it went for £317 i think someone will be dissapointed! But looking at the photos I reckon i can make a metal / hard plastic one in the future and that would be cool

It sounds very cool mate, what do you use for reference?
  • martini man 2martini man 2 Posts: 14MI6 Agent
allsorts really books i have lots the films i freeze the picture and photograph it ,other photos and the net sizes are worked out in relation to a hand or something i can know the size of . if i can see the overall length the parts can be made in relation to that ie i know the length of the Hasselbald 500 so when the gun is thrown down on the floor in the film you can see how long the barrel is in relation to the body also some is trial and error for example the Goldeneye keys I just made are brass my first attempt was with 3mm thick but it wasnt right got 1/2 way through on and bimnned it in the film they are thick when held in the hand so i have remade them in 6mm brass and they look awsome now they are polished up
the way i look at it all props are made from bits and pieces it is just a matter of working out how the did it and what they used.

I have just seen your moonraker id cards very cool let me know when you set the task to win one as i would love to have a go
    thanks
    David

    Hi martini 2
I am also currently working on my LTK signature gun, I have made a plug for the grip just to mould it now.. This should be fun.... Never do it before!!

I know what you mean about trying to accurately scale of a still from the movie.. It takes ages to gauge it right.
I'm nearly there with all the parts now the only things missing to be made are the grip on the barrel, the flash illinator on the muzzel and lens to barrel reducer.
i like the idea with leds just wouldn't know how to do it?

    Paul.
