I buy on eBay regularly, and have occasionally had issues with items not delivered or not as described. If you pay by PayPal, you have buyer's protection from both eBay AND PayPal (though not both), as they are now separate companies. So if the item is a fake, or in any way not as described, you can report it and you will be reimbursed. And if it not a fake, then you have got an affordable Tom Ford!
