"As for getting others to sign stuff.... isn't that forgery ?"
Lot of celebs do that , for example most of what Heston sent out was secretarials...he did sign some books , though. But if all the fake Hestons were to be removed from ebay he'd cost 100$ minimum
Monroe got 100s or 1000s a letters per week so obviously she had to use secretaries to sign for her.
Personally if I had power of such I would make fake autographs/secretarials thru mail illegal...esp in CA , where most originate from.
It would be punishable with jail and strong fines as it's misleading/deceiving and ultimately they end up in the marketplace
Well I enjoyed the show at Wolverhampton . Sir Roger is a very witty guy. To be fair , if you've read his autobiography you will know most of the stuff he said. The Q&A session was the best part. Unfortunately I didn't see him arrive, (tho photos in the press suggest he mayve signed an autograph then),
But afterwards he was ushered straight away with no signing at all. That was very disappointing as there was only about 12 of us waiting. It would've took 10 mins to make everybody's day. To be fair it looked like the security 'odd jobs' just shoving him into the people carrier, rather than giving him a chance. They could've come out first to suss out how many people were there.
Unfortunately it's usually these over zealous types who spoil it for everyone...
I recent met Sir Ian McKellan at the stage door for No Mans Land before the play. As he was signing he was walking into the building and as he had my item to sign I followed him in, only to be met by a hysterical woman screaming at me to get out!
I was hoping to tell Sir Ian how much I was looking forward to the play but couldn't get a word in and then she says to him "Sir Ian shall I call security?" To which he looks at her in disbelief and says "no,no, no"...unnecessary or what?!?! She just looked a complete fool and tainted my meeting with this great actor...
Later it struck me that this was an ironic spin on The Lord of The Rings "you shall not pass!" Scene - so I look back on it with humour now...

There's always the slim possibility before the show but if I were a betting man I wouldn't count on it.......
Streep signed no autographs at the premiere in Berlin 4 yrs ago (6 hrs waiting , ouch my feet) , sadly she signed for dealers a few days prior to the premiere and Jackie Chan signed like 5 autographs in Norway 6 yrs ago , I were there and believe me it can be tough. So if I got them I would not sell on ebay for 20£ I can tell you that
Most of these stars live in another world. They don't get that spending 20 mins of their time is nothing, but can mean everything to the people they sign for.
Ok, ebay has changed the game somewhat, but so what somebody makes a few quid.
And like you say , it seems even more annoying when these stars blank you, bu will happily sell their soul to Bondstars or the like.
"Although all of the pre-orders were seen to be loaded into the van to be brought back to the UK, when the van arrived in the UK, they had been removed. We have been over it with everyone involved and it would appear that the items were removed by someone in Germany whilst the van was still being loaded"
I know for a fact that Vegas police is going after forgers now and one day it'll be bondcollectibles and Mueller who gets a visit from the "polizei"....mark my word !!!
These look different to the ones I got in person by Lazenby in 2005 ?:)
They do look a little too clean but I do notice some similarities to mine I got in person in 2014. I got one TTM a few months after (which I had sent over two years previous). Which also looked cleaner but had similarities. Tough to say as GL does have some inconsistencies in his signing.
And yes, BondCollectibles has taken a lot of fun out of collecting, making you question anything that isn't in person or through a private signing/convention.
Sorry but zero faith in anything associated with Jack M. Sell; has posted dozens of blatantly fake Bond -- as well as other films and series -- pieces.
Hi All. I am off work this week so will hopefully get round to posting some autographs I have got in person - if that helps others.
Meantime , may I ask a question. I have 2 signed paperback book pages that id like to put in a frame on my wall. But, Im worried that being in the light will fade them. I had a signed football programme where the biro signature has faded after about 15 years. They aren't in direct sunlight, and I have plenty of sharpie signed pictures that have been okay.
I seem to recall my local framing company mentioned selling glass that should protect it, but I don't want to risk them as I probably will never get them again (they are signed books from 2 members of The Police , Sting and Andy Summers.
I recently purchased this Sean Connery photo. As I didn't buy it from the trader himself but from the person who bought it from him, I sent a scan of the photo to UCLA and they said in their opinion it's genuine and the trader although retired now was an honest trader. The one thing that concerns me about collecting autographs is the autopen which has been around for years. How do fans know if they're buying a genuine handsigned photo or one signed by machine?
I've just googled autopen signatures and the opinion seems to be that if the signature is too thick and uniform it could be suspect, as a handwritten signature will vary it's pressure points. Closer inspection of this Sean photo, I can see the pressure does fluctuate a bit especially on the first letter (B) where the ink fades in and out slightly. If everyone looks out for this, it might help identify a genuine handwritten one.
I have great familiarity with the autopen in other areas of collecting and although I have never seen a Connery autopen with which to compare this example, from the image you provide I do not believe that this is an autopen signature. That said, I could not comment on its authenticity beyond that opinion. Best of luck to you.
