i leave you kids alone for 5 minutes and you've managed to turn a prop thread into one about butter.
anyways, back on the real topic, i've got marge sat in front of me, but i've left my card reader at home, so no pics til later lol )
sorry about that
Well MG
You've done an given us all a big tease. We have got to occupy ourselves until you post the next lot of pics - or we go nuts
Besides even on the topic of butter...we are still talking Bond....Chp 11 FRWL titled "The Soft Life" Bond's breakfast consisted of tubs of deep yellow Jersey butter {[]
But back on topic since you said my posting gave 2 great big clues.... AHA B-)
While doing research, and finding out Bond was to carry another Bart (sm Homer) concealed in his shoulder holster, leading us to believe they used 2, a smaller version in the razor and slightly bigger in the shoe. Connery has a size 10.5 Handmade shoe in GF.
now i've got a bit of time, i'd just like to point out a few things about marge.
its been debated and argued over about how this shot was done in the first place. some believe it was connery doing a slight of hand trick, others said it was a screw on cap, some said it was a specially made smaller version of the bart we see in the Q branch scenes.
well, i've looked into all of the theories and worked out that the bart in the Q branch scenes and the bart seen in the lockheed bog scenes are not the same size, probably different props.
the original razor prop doesn't feature a threaded cap, ie if you let go of it, the cap would simply fall off. the unscrewing action is simply mimed by connery (the cheating bar steward).
having it mimed, and not threaded was, i thought, cack. so i went about making it a screw on cap instead.
the orinigal gillette can't be converted, it just isn't possible, so i made my own. the cap, adjustment collar and the handle are all custom made, but the sizes are taken from the original. the original head assemble was reused, as there wasn't much point in remaking that.
the bart is made from brass and has a spring loaded top slide action.

whoa this is news...Pete...I knew about the size variation. The size of the Bart in the Q workshop scenes relative to the Homer just doesn't fit into the barrel of the Gillette.
But the shoulder holster link is really news to me! Good research

Can I just say though, Thanks to MG for putting in SO much work and detail in to this project, as always he goes above and beyond expectation, I am privileged to have his work in my collection and even more so to have him as a friend.
well to make a run would be hellish expensive, i mean really really daft money.
its one of these items where it takes so long to make it, that the price sky rockets to something unbelievabley high that most people would think i'd be taking the piss.
although these are made from brass, i wonder if casting them would be a possibilty. i'll look into it, but;
the bottom line is at this current moment in time, there are no plans to make any more marge's.

getting all teary eyed now.
cheers pete, and you know that this stuff wouldn't be possible without your input.
cheers sid too, the comments are really nice to hear, its great you guys take an interest in my work.
So, what sharp little eyes you've got...wait till you get to my teeth.

As usual, you’ve approached the challenge “head-on” and not only met the challenge but imposed your own unto the project. VERY well done!!! A “Tip of the hat” and a hearty “Thumbs-up” on this one!!!
I thought to add the sketch I did back in 2002 on my perception of the construction.
I had asked Pete to show this to you and, if it had any influence on your final design, I’m glad to have contributed (if in only a small way) to the magnificent real-life duplication of the prop.
Otherwise, I can only say that “Great minds think alike”….LOL
Again, TOP Marks on this one!!!!!!!!!

after looking at the 'extention - sleeve' idea of yours, i'd say yeah, you've got it about bang on. however, to have the cap threaded, there wouldn't be enough material to cut a thread into, hence me scratch making the handle.
its sometimes easier to build from scratch than it is to modify existing parts, especially when trying to match shiny-ness of plating etc.
must admit that loads of people (some unknowingly lol) have helped out alot with this one.
so if you've mentioned, contributed or chipped in with any info regarding 'the simpsons' then cheers, its all been taken in. -{
its a great example of what we can all do when we put our heads together.

Well deserved accolades to you MG
I will deliberately mis-quote Brosnan in GE to Onatopp..."Well it seems we share the same fever, Mr Bond.."
Its pleasing to see some of us are "fastidious" in our search for detail perfection...as fastidious as Fleming describes Bond in his habits and tastes!
Whoa....getting into a bit of psychoanalysis here...... stop!
Get rid of the disposables and modern shavers and let's go back to the good ole' times. Anyone use the Gillette for daily shaves? On the Shave forums, there is a cult following on some of these old single razor blade shavers.
BTW the FRWL knife - is that a new machining - it looks too sharp for the SD production items - plus it doesn't seem to be chromed? It looks soooo dangerous. Really like it.
