60’s (The classics! Most of these movies are in my top 10)
1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
(Switched places with FRWL, saw both a while ago and right now I like this one better)
2. From Russia With Love
(My former number 1 of all movies, still great)
3. You Only Live Twice
(I know it is not the best movie, I just like it, as a kid I was really interested in spaceflight so this movie made quite an impact when I saw it first (1993 and I still like it. The setting is great, I love the locations in Japan (the entire movie) it has some great cinematography, a fantastic soundtrack and although a “bit” over top, Ken Adam’s sets are amazing)
4. Dr. No
(A great film. I saw this movie a lot when I was young, it was the first Bond movie I got on VHS)
5. Goldfinger
(The quintessential Bond film, period)
6. Thunderball
(Some great elements, but where OHMSS and CR fly by, this movie feels very, very long)
70’s (Not the best decade, but it does have one of my all time favourites)
1. The Spy Who Loved Me
(The movie I would show an Alien when he asks: “Show me what a Bond movie is Earthling!”)
2. Live and Let Die
(The fact that LALD is my second favourite movie of this decade shows how bad this decade was)
3. Moonraker
(The first half is pretty good IMHO)
4. Diamonds Are Forever
(Now Bond is drinking Heineken I hope he will visit Amsterdam again)
5. The Man With The Golden Gun
(Great villain but to me it feels more like an episode of The Persuaders)
‘80s (It may be because I was born in the 80’s but it has some of my favourite films. Growing up in the 80’s in Western Europe was pretty grim. There was a very negative atmosphere until Gorbatsjov came to power in the USSR; I can imagine the audience needed some serious entertainment)
1. The Living Daylights
(I love this movie, great Bond and I like Krabbé as Koskov)
2. Octopussy
(The first or second Bond film I ever saw. Like the scenes in India and that Maud Adams is in it. She has great chemistry with Moore; it might have something to do with the fact that she is not 30 years younger than he is)
3. For Your Eyes Only
(Stunning Bondgirl, great ally, a good mix between serious spying and entertainment. Moore shows he can be a “hard-edged” Bond)
4. Licence to Kill
(Too bad the parts taken from the novel LALD aren’t worked out well)
5. A View to A Kill
(One word: JJJJJJJAAAAAAAMMMMMMMEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!)
90’s (The only movies I saw in the cinema, really like one, the other has special memories but TND is low on my list)
1. Goldeneye
(The first 007 movie I ever saw in the cinema. I started liking Bond around 1993 and can remember the build-up to GE. Me and my friends were so exited, having turned 12 just some time before we could see the film without our parents!)
2. The World Is Not Enough
(Went to the premiere in Amsterdam and met Desmond Llewelyn, chatted a bit about Amsterdam, just a few days before he died. I will always remember this when I watch TWINE)
3. Tomorrow Never Dies
(What can I say, a good plot, bad execution)
00’s (Please! Please! Skyfall I beg you, start a great new decade!)
1. Casino Royale
(A very, very welcome change from the direction the franchise was going. I don’t think it is that true to Flemings novel like most people, but it was a movie I really liked. Craig did a great job, I loved the way he portrayed Bond, but I don’t think he looks like Bond. In this movie this is not a problem because it is a fantastic film so you believe “everything” you see)
2. Die Another Day
(Yes, I rank this movie above QoS because at least it feels like a 007 movie, but it is terrible)
3. Quantum of Solace
(All of the above is just my opinion, a matter of taste, I know I like movies just because of sentimental reasons. I know I like some terrible camp movies better than some classics just because I really enjoy watching them. So this comment on QoS is just my humble opinion. I hate it. I know production was difficult, writers strike and all, but to me it just didn’t feel like a 007 movie. I know, I just don’t get it. I am really looking forward to Skyfall and whatever happens, it will be number 1 on my ‘10’s list! At least until Bond24 comes out)

This is probably worthy of a thread all of its own, but why does DIE ANOTHER DAY cause so much consternation? QUANTUM OF SOLACE I can understand alienating fans who like certain boxes ticked, but DIE ANOTHER DAY does seem to tick them. Albeit with a very thick Day-Glo marker pen! Is it the overkill? I admit to being exhausted by the last act. And all the to-oing & fro-ing from the Ice Palace could be cut by half, but on balance it seems no less daft than some of the other fantasy entries, even with the inclusion of an invisible car. And to be fair, Brosnan handles that conceit rather well.

Yeah I think you summed it up
Invisible Car
Stupid Earth Destroying Weapon
Ice Palace
Dodgy Surfboard scene
John Cleese (im a big fan but hated him in Bond)
The only reason I watch it is to see Halle Berry and the PTS got off to a not bad start!
QoS is weak but I don't think its that bad compared to others in the series
That's my single biggest peeve- too much going on that I can't care about. Boring is a Cardinal movie sin. As crappy as most of AVTAK is, it ain't BORING. The director should be strapped to a chair Clockwork Orange style & made to watch it looped for a week straight IMO.
Oh, and on topic: The 80's part on my list has changed radically-
1980s:
1. Licence To Kill
2. The Living Daylights
3. Octopussy
4. For Your Eyes Only
5. A View To A Kill
My biggest peeve with AVTAK (besides Tanya Roberts and a way-past-his-prime Roger Moore) is exactly that - it's extremely BORING! And my feeling about DAD is sort of opposite - it's not a great Bond movie (although I thought the first half was first-rate), but it was never BORING!

This is what we call opinion. In my opinion both AVTAK and DAD are not boring, they both have quite enough action and especially AVTAK has some good acting/moments, just not my favourite movies but I know someone who really loves AVTAK. And I agree with a previous poster that AVTAK is a perfect movie to watch with friends when you are drunk.

To ME, AVTAK is bizarre, inconsistent, irritating.... but stangely it held my interest.
DAD (last time I saw it, anyway) had me getting food without pausing it (I NEVER do not pause)... so much going on... not funny, not serious... it's like busy work. Put this in, put that in, add sparks & bolts.... that's boring to ME... the swordfight rocks that's true, but by the end I realized I was done with that particular movie.

Yep! So now you know why my opinions seem so bizarre sometimes - how can I possibly appreciate all the nuances of the Bond movies (especially Sir Roger's) unless I imbibe at least a little?!!!! )
:007) Had to look up what imbibe means (not a native speaker), but all opinions are bizarre, I like Octopussy, clownsuit and all, even when I'm sober )

Watching Octopussy sober makes me feel like I've had a few drinks...
(That's not a bad thing, btw)
Octopussy was the first Bond movie I saw, I remember being amazed by the PTS, the 009 clown scene, the stuffed sheep's head and the plane stunts. So I probably just have a soft spot for Octopussy

Same here with DAF. Mountaineering about the Whyte House was mesmerizing to my 11 year old self!
Well, my second Bond film was Moonraker and I remember being absolutly amazed by the PTS. It is far from my favorite Bond movie but I still remember the fun I had watching it for the first time. Same goes for Dr. No.
1. Goldfinger
2. On Her Majestys Secret Service
3. From Russia With Love
4. Dr No
5. You Only Live Twice
6. Thunderball
Numbers 3-5 are all neck and neck and can change depending on my mood, i think the top 5 are all great, the top 2 excellent, i think Thunderball is the weakest of the 60's by a long way though it is still a decent film imo.
1970s
1. The Spy Who Loved Me
2. Live And Let Die
3. Moonraker
4. The Man With The Golden Gun
5. Diamonds Are Forever
Number 1 is my fave Bond film, 2 and 3 i also love and are neck and neck, 4 is good and 5 is decent but by far the weakest of the 70s imo.
1980s
1. The Living Daylights
2. For Your Eyes Only
3. Licence To Kill
4. A View To A Kill
5. Octopussy
Imo this decade had all good films that were close in quality so my opinion can change particularly the top 3, but even the bottom 2 i thoroughly enjoy and are great fun particularly Walkens character in AVTAK.
1990s
1. Goldeneye
2. The World Is Not Enough
3. Tomorrow Never Dies
GE is by far my fave 90s Bond with a great intro for Pierce and great turns from 006 and Xenia, number 2 is pretty good not brilliant but entertaining, and TND is the worst imo, the first half is pretty good then loses steam turns into a standard 90s action movie though Carver was highly amusing imo though didnt think much of the Bond girl.

Technicly, Skyfall isn't part of the "00's" decade anyway... It's the first movie of the 10's..
True, though CR and QOS can do with a rewatch since i recently got them on DVD, and to get me in the mood before i go and see Skyfall. Im looking forward to it have heard a lot of positive reviews.
1960's - Decent and the one that defined the series we love:
Dr No
You Only Live Twice
OHMSS
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Thunderball
1970's - Not my favourite decade, but does boast my favourite film - LALD:
Live and Let Die
The Spy Who Loved Me
Diamonds Are Forever
The Man With the Golden Gun
Moonraker
1980's - Absolute favourite decade. Every single film is rather decent:
A View to a Kill
Octopussy
License to Kill
For Your Eyes Only
The Living Daylights
1990's - Not a great decade - Goldeneye is decent though:
Goldeneye
The World Is Not Enough
Tommorrow Never Dies
2000's - Least favourite decade - Not all that bad, but none of the films rank that high for me:
Quantum of Solace
Casino Royale
Die Another Day
1980's - Absolute favourite decade. Every single film is rather decent:
A View to a Kill
Octopussy
License to Kill
For Your Eyes Only
The Living Daylights
In a way I must agree; a stupid decade that produced great movies, Bond and otherwise!
