Wristwatch Etiquette?

Is it improper according to watch etiquette to pair a deep blue dial with a black rubber strap? I've seen blue and white rubber together and that seems to work fine. But I don't know if it's a fashion no-no to have blue and black, since black and black seems so much more natural.
The question, though, more importantly, is "Would James Bond do it?" I know in Casino Royale, the Planet Ocean XL was a black dial and black strap.
