Thanks, I'll skip it then shall I? It'll be the death of Bond? 8-)
Why not wait and see what it's like, might surprise you. :007)
Why does Bond 23 need to aknowledge the 50th anniversary of the series if the film is released in 2012 ?
???
No one's saying it needs to be, but it does seem almost impossible at this point for 23 to make a 2011 release date (thank you MGM creditors X-( ). So now it's going to be 2012. *shrug*
They dont need to put references in to commemerate the 50 years just make a good script and use it in the advertising for the release

I'll just go waaaaaaay out on a limb, and predict that if the film ends up released in 2012, there might must perhaps (maybe, could be, might be, possibly be) a mention of the 50th Anniversary of James Bond's cinematic debut.
Since they used the 40th to reference as many possible past Bond elements as they could, hopefully they'll concentrate more appropriately on making the Best James Bond Film they can possibly make. GF was, effectively, a Second Anniversary picture ( ); I'll be happy if they can do something of that calibre :007)

I was refering to Greene's post. I am just afraid of another bloated film if they tie it in with the 50th anniversary.
Also, this is would be number 23 in the series, not number 20. DAD didn't only mark the 40th anniversary but the 20th film of the series, hence it was a "double" milestone. Thats not the case here.
Somehow I don't think the producers are going to load it up with references quite like they did with DAD (SOME of those I thought weren't actually that bad). IF they do have acknowledge the event hopefully it would be just a small, subtle nod.
Now that production is on the horizon, maybe we can go back to worrying over script quality. Hopefully Bond won't be looking for Mr. White in a hollow volcano or a giant atomic sub!!!!
Would it be o.k. if Mr. White snowboards down the side of a snowy mountain while "California Girls" blasts in the backround? :v {:)
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope
Hopefully we'll get the new bond next year. Meanwhile, there's something you should see - these guys have re-formated a sequence of quantum of solace using some new technology which is alternative to 3D. Here’s the link: http://www.livestation.com/videos
Enjoy,

What gives you that idea ? It was only the third film.
Er...it came out two years after the first one Kinda like if a couple gets married in 1962, and then in 1964 they have their...never mind.

They wouldn't celebrate only two years of the series unlike a married couple.
If you say so! I think Saltzman and Broccoli celebrated plenty.
Connery bounced through the picture (which crystalised the Precious Classic FormulaTM) with an assured self-awareness that simultaneously winked at the audience and pushed the boundaries of what charter screenwriter Richard Maibaum tagged as 'deadpan spoofing.' Until the reboot, Eon have arguably tried to remake GF nearly every time they've checked the camera gate during principal photography.
An actual 'Anniversary' picture? Of course not. It was a joke, hence the ' '. But I'll maintain it was the first time (of many) in which Eon celebrated its own success...and if they add a *dash* of this sort of spirit of fun to #23, it will make Craigger's sometimes-lamented tenure Golden...so to speak ;% But, as with nitroglycerine...a little goes a long way...

I would say only after the 1960's they ultimately relied on Goldfinger as the template of every film to follow. Also going by some of the very arbitary homages to GF in Craig's past two films, they still hold it up as the Bond to live up to.
Well, here's something that could give us hope: Peter Jackson's delayed film of The Hobbit has been greenlighted (greenlit?) by MGM, so maybe some movement will happen with Bond? Anyway, the news is here:
Except that The Hobbit is a co-production of MGM, WB and New Line and it is the influx of cash by the latter two studios that is pushing it forward more than any momentum on WB's part.
That's not the case with Bond, where the distribution rights are split 50/50 between EON and MGM and it would seem MGM is not keen on sharing Bond with another studio going forward as they did with Sony for CR and QoS.
As to the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings I do recall an article from last week wherein Lionsgate was again pushing to make an offer for MGM, this time with Carl Icahn's blessing. I would imagine any such offer would could further stall the talks with Spyglass about merging studios.
As I mentioned in a post somewhere back in this thread, sometimes getting all the debt holders to agree to a prearranged bankruptcy doesn't go smooth, especially when Mr. Icahn is involved. It appears Mr. Icahn is fighting the deal to have Spyglass take control of MGM, the link below gives more detail. Anyone still think we will have a Bond film in 2011?

All them there dwarves got cast this week, moving forward news on The Hobbit always feels like good juju for Bond 23, also sure such movement is not lost on the soon-to-be-voting creditors. :007)
Creditors have until tomorrow (Friday) to vote on the proposal to put MGM in to bankruptcy. As previousely mentioned Mr. Icahn has another proposal which would merge MGM and Lion's Gate. He has offered to buy the debt from the other creditors. Fairly soon we should find out if MGM goes into bankruptcy and re-emerges run by Spyglass Management, or will merge with Lion's Gate, or is stuck between two competing forces. The Wall Street Journal artcile below is a very complete summary of the current situation.

MGM files for bankruptcy
TODAY
LOS ANGELES — Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., the home of James Bond, filed for bankruptcy protection on Wednesday in a plan that had the backing of its lenders, and it sought permission to begin funding its half of "The Hobbit."
The "prepackaged" bankruptcy plan, more than a year in the making, should go quickly. MGM is to restructure and be managed by the co-CEOS of Spyglass Entertainment.
MGM lenders will trade about $4 billion in debt for stock in the new company, valued at around $2 billion.

Granted it was more expensive than the other Bonds because the other two grossed an extraordinary amount of money on small budgets.
