According to today's News of the World (26/12/10), Bond 23 will co-incide with the 50th anniversary.

Well we all knew that when we heard the 2012 date. I just hope they don't use this opprotunity to make a bunch of stupid winks and nods to the past films.

Could not agree more...enough already. The tacky oil stunt in QOS was a real low point for the entire series. I liked the way it was done in OHMSS though so I guess it's how they do it, for EON being EON i cant imagine that they will have either the restraint, or class required not to blow their own Trumpet. Lets just hope that they keep it top a minimum

QOS didn't stop there. Bond tossing the special branch agent off the roof was from TSWLM, that car crashing in the PTS was like the three blind mices' hearse crashing in Doctor No, Bond and Camille in the dessert and the "Robert Sterling" cover were both from Spy. They even took an action sequence from the first draft Goldeneye when they did the dog fight. Really, they had to go back nearly 15 years to a bloody first draft script to come up with ideas ?

Hell, even Casino Royale had the obvious past winks. The DB5, "Goldfinger" himself, the stuff in Nassau was basically a mini-Thunderball, and using Venice as a locale and blantantly aknowledging how it was used both in From Russia With Love and Moonraker.

It must get harder and harder for the likes of Purvis and Wade to come up with new material after 22 outings.

Of course they could read an Ian Fleming thriller for inspiration, but why start doing that now?

agreed, finding bits of the world our man has not ben to is getting tough. I was really thinking about the deliberate and conscious homage. It's funny, i found the DB5 wity and not at all annoying so for me at least it really does depend upon how well it's done. And of course ' cheesiness is in the eye of the beholder:)

Yes that's what I mean. Surely it's inevitable that after so long the production team has started to repeat themselves, probably unconciously, but simply taking the old images and sticking them in newer material is just laziness.
  • Maybe the gap will be even longer than the LTK-GE gap. WHo knows. MGM should simply sell the rights for 007 so someone else could take over.

I don't see why since they have already announced a 2012 release and things are back on track with MGM.
