i phoned GE on monday, 12th July, to chase on my car collection issues 88 - 91 ( on their way apparently !!!!) and they said they havent heard from the publisher yet ???!!!
We are delighted to tell you that James Bond’s DB5 will be published in January 2011. The collection will be available throughout the UK and will continue without interruption until the last part is delivered. We will start to accept pre-orders for the publication towards the end of September 2010.
does that mean if I hope you'll give me £100, you'll give me it?
so is the subscription starting off where it stopped at issue 6 or is it starting from the beginning again at issue 1 as the first 6 issues were only a trial?
does that mean if I hope you'll give me £100, you'll give me it?
You could try... )
I guess it starts again from issue 1, since the first run was a test run. So that means the people who had a subscription before will probably have to be patient for the first six weeks of the run.
hey all, got a letter today saying its going ahead from Jan 2011 - and as a goodwill gesture i'll get issue 7 free !!!!!!
anyone else had this ????
Hi Guys,
I received a letter today from "JAMES BOND'S DB5" stating the series was beginning again from January 2011. It will start at Issue 1, it says that it will be available throughout the UK and will continue without interruption until the final part is delivered. The team have reviewed the entire project to make as many improvements as possible. The letter says that there will be some changes to the way the model builds up, but nothing that will involve the parts we already have and they are making some subtle improvements to the model.
For those people who have subscribed to the series, they have upgraded the packaging for delivery through the post and as "Crocke007" has stated, as a subscriber, you get Issue 7 FREE of charge when it will be sent out as normal when it is available in the new year.
I'm still unsure whether existing subscribers will carry on from Issue 7 or whether they will begin again from Issue 1 and get the first 6 issues repeated??? I suppose we will have to wait to see what develops. By the way, I'm STILL waiting for Issue 4 from first time round!!!
I think I'll just contact them for it in January 2011. It's quite possible they simply haven't got any more issues in stock right now, and will not get any new ones till publication restarts.
Confused.com ????...Just spoke to a girl(Hannah) at DB5 & she says there are no letters being sent out.. also confirming that the previous subscription holders are not getting issue 7..in fact she denied that the letters had even been sent..& she was vague about the January release...If I am going to have hassle with this collection! I will just not bother & I will Ebay my 6 issues that I have originally purchased..... -{ :007)

Maybe a late reply, but I guess the lady you spoke to at the phone just hadn't been informed yet, because I really did get that letter (including the statement that issue 7 would come free of charge).

I don't doubt for one minute that you got a letter!..I just think it's a bad show giving wrong info..I fear there are going to be major problems in supply & demand with this collection??? -{ :007)
This magazine is coming to Germany as well! I'll stick with my English subscription (even though I live in the Netherlands), but it's nice to see there is a possibility that other countries will follow, just like it happened with the JBCC.
I found out about this when I just checked www.007db5.com. The site had someting new: in the top right corner there is a German flag next to the Union Jack. If you click on that, you get redirected to http://007db5.de. The German site looks mostly the same, only the exemplary pages of the magazine are (of course) in German and the subscription area is a little different. They don't have the 'Win a Track Day' competition, but they do list which free gift you get with which issue:
1. Aston Martin book
2. Aston Martin Screw driver
3. Screw box
4. Folder for keeping the magazines
5. Goldfinger DVD
This makes me wonder all of a sudden: all us people who subscribed long ago in the UK, we're not going to get the first six issues again if they start up the collection nationwide. So when are we going to get our free gifts?
The German magazine will cost € 5,99 for issue 1 and € 9,99 from issue 2 onwards. Total cost for the German edition: € 745.25, compared to the UK edition which will cost a total of 519.25 GBP (which equals, according to XE, € 622.33). That's a difference of € 122.92 or 102.56 GBP, in favour of the UK edition.
The UK publisher only sells this magazine within the UK. However, a friend of my mother lives there, so she has subscribed for me and I just transfer the money to her every time she sends me a box.
At this moment I'm doing the same thing with the JBCC, and shipping for that is around 4.50 GBP per box of two cars. That's how she shipped them until recently, but at this moment she's holding them, since a friend of mine is going to the UK at the end of September, and he will meet her and pick up all the cars she's been holding for me. That's even cheaper! You know what they say about the Dutch... )
First the bad news: the magazine will now consist of 85 instead of 75 issues (even though the FAQ section still mentions 75 issues, the text on the main page just underneath the photo of the model mentions the number 85). Strangely enough the German site still mentions 75 issues (though this may just be because it hasn't been updated yet).
The effect this has on the total cost for subscribers in the UK is a rise of 69.90 GBP, from 519.25 GBP to 589.15 GBP (1.99 GBP for issue 1 and 6.99 GBP for each issue thereafter).
The German edition will now cost € 845.15 (= 730.65 GBP) instead of € 745.25 (= 644.28 GBP), a rise of € 99.90 (€ 5.99 for issue 1 and € 9.99 for each issue thereafter).
Then the good news: they give you the guarantee that, when you subscribe, all parts will be reserved for you, so there's no way you won't be able to finish your model.
The photo of the model is now interactive, e.g. when you click the word 'bonnet' underneath the photo, you'll see the bonnet open. All the other features are shown too in that same way (also the ones seen from the back).
Quotes from the 'Subscribe' page (even though the page has been changed, subscribing is not yet possible):
# Four issues delivered to any UK address every four weeks
# Issues reserved for subscribers
# No commitment – stop your subscription at any time
# Cardboard backing for magazines to ensure safe delivery
# Courier option available (additional fees apply)
# Secure, encrypted ordering
# Pay with Visa, Mastercard, Direct Debit or PayPal
# We do not store your credit card details*
The free gifts haven't changed.
And for any of you who've only seen the tv advertisement so far (on the website), there's another short film on YouTube, showing the model a little better (which has been there for quite some time, by the way).
The subscription service is now and running. Only problem is it starts from issue 7?
I've emailed them about 1 to 6.
Steve
What has happened about the ones who previously subscribed.??..will it be reactivated & will they get their "Freebies" also I thought Mr Steed was going to keep us informed????
I still haven't received my answer regarding issues 1to6! I really am looking forward to collecting the parts and assembling the DB5 but how can you have confidence in a company to supply 85 issues over a year and a half if they can't reply to a simple email. Come on GE Fabbri please start as you mean to go on!
Garth from GE Fabbri emailed today and told me there was an issue with the email system which was why there was a slow response to my initial email. All sorted now starting January with issue one (1). Result. Thanks Garth
