quote=Teppo]I hate to say this, but the ONLY reason why i'm probably keeping this item
- is those signatures and the FACT there won't be another signature edition GG.
However, if i would have been part of this kind of project - the money
used for those signatures and extra resin bullets, would have been used for the item itself.
Materials, machining, plating etc. ...and Quality control.
I echo Teppo's comments 100% and the gorgeous photos of the original filming prop just reinforces my sentiments in previous GG listings. Sorry FE I really wanted to like the end product after all the delays but there are some major gaffs written and manufactured!

I got to handle one of these yesterday. I'm sorry to say that it looked and felt like a toy to me. The GG isn't really my thing anyway, but it really did look like plastic with uneven plating and garish colour. The lack of weight WAS disapointing. If you wanted just a display piece, then a plated resin jobby would have done that job, this was supposed to be a high end replica of a golden gun... it should have much more weight. If there was any temptation to buy one, it disappeared fast in that moment. Again, this is just my opinion.
How much do you guys think this should weigh? It is 14oz and a real ppk is only 17-23oz and it is a semiauto pistol made of tool steel.
Well if you think about it – the weight should come from the lighter (working part of the gun)… the pen and the cigarette case should not have a big weight… but them again perhaps Lezard made it different… but bottom line a “real golden gun” is probably not very heavy… but there is some psychological effect of a heavy weight model
I think that 14oz sounds very accurate... I don't know what the others were expecting.
It might sound accurate, but it doesn't feel anything near. When I looked at it in the box, I thought it was looking good, then as I got nearer it looked more and more like a toy, when I picked it up, the light weight just reinforced that. It just doesn't work for me and that's before I read PPWs accuracy issues. I'm looking forward to see what FE has in line for future releases, but this one has not lived up to the hype.
Can some one post a picture of this Orange plug in the end, so I can see what there talking about. I may be mistaken but I don't remember reading anything about it having this orange plug on there web site review, or the video doesn't show it. Damn Gun laws!

Well after my comment of having to shine a torch up the hole to screw in the trigger or to more precise get the two holes to line up, I decided to dissemble the prop & the trigger unscrewed or so I thought but it left its threaded shaft in place making it impossible to take the prop apart. Remember my original posting was that of quality of finish of the replica. The shaft is stuck solid the trigger can however be screwed back onto it for display. I've recently sent FE an email regarding earlier comments, in particular the imperfect finish and this is just the icing on the cake for this dissapointment.
Well its nice to see everybody seems to have received theirs (even if not everybody is happy)
I haven't even received an email regarding shipping of mine yet

ppw3o6r I am sorry to see this issue. Please contact us directly so we can solve this for you.
There seem to be two issues here. PLEASE UNDERSTAND I am not attempting to blame anybody here we take full responsibility for any faulty parts and will do everything we can to correct any issues. I am also trying to give guidance and avoid any further problems and also explain some of the thinking behind what may appear madness. This is a complex item that is made up of several hand made parts and does require some careful handling. It is not a real gun and is a replica prop that was designed to look good on screen. I it was never designed or engineered to be practical in the real world.
1) Its hard to tell from the images but I think the problem here looks as if the lighter does not fully 'seat' correctly on the body of the case for some reason. This is having a knock on effect with the rest of the components. The holes should line up and the cuff-link should screw in easily and not at an angle. The slide out section on the lighter must be fully pulled out and remain pulled out as you lock it down onto the cigarette case pins. If the slide out moves back at all the holes will not line up. Its a tricky piece to assemble, even on the the original prop you will see that Christopher Lee has quite a job and that was an even more complex and troublesome fitting that we have attempted to make more user friendly without affecting the external accuracy . I suspect we may need to replace the lighter here. Regardless we will ensure you have a product you are happy with.
2) The Cuff link is VERY delicate. It must not be over tightened. Otherwise the screw thread bar will break away from the cuff-link as they are two different parts. This was deliberate (waits for shouts of anger) here me out. The cuff-link is delicate because we wanted to more exactly replicate the cuff-link that is seen on the original hero prop , as per the enclosed image which was a more slender style. It DID NOT match the more bulky remaining cuff-link. you see on Scaramanga's right shirt sleeve. That was a separate cuff-link prop that was simply just a cuff-link and did not fit to the gun in any way. There is a good reason why you do not see the cuff-link attached to the gun in the famous assembly scenes... because on the prop it was very complicated and even more delicate. In attempting to keep the accuracy and still have a functional replica we have opted for a slender threaded bar that improves the fitting. Why is it designed to break away if overtightened? Well if the bar and cuff-link were a single cast component it would be in danger of shearing/snapping off if overtightened which would leave you with a broken piece that would be snapped off inside the gun rendering the entire thing useless. However in the current form the threaded bar can be easily but carefully removed using needle nose pliers and can then be replaced if needs be with a new cuff-link part. The damaged cuff-link can also be repaired. Of course we could have gone offer more durable and bulky style trigger but that would not have been as accurate. Also the trigger is designed to withstand repeated screwing and unscrewing, if screwed in gently and carefully. It should not break off unless turned with overly excessive force. 'Fingertips only' is the key here. As soon as you meet resistance stop turning. DON"T OVERTIGHTEN as the blueprints clearly state. I am not suggesting that ppw3o6r did anything wrong here, from the look of the pictures it seems that for whatever reason the cuff-link on his gun was faulty, the threaded bar does not appear to have been welded into the cuff-link body properly and seem to have broken off without excessive force. In making 1400 triggers it is sadly a possibility.
ppw3o6r please get in touch so we can fix the problem for you.
Other owners please be gentle with your guns. If your trigger is hard to screw in or if you feel resistance something is not lined up correctly. the cuff-link trigger should crew in easily using your fingertips and minimal force.

The lighter on the original prop is actually the lightest part. It was completely hollow and had all of the actual lighter elements removed to allow for the slide to function. As we have said none of the parts used to 'make' the gun on screen actually worked. Any working parts you see were separate props that did not actually fit together. Movie magic at work!
In real life I suspect Lazar, (or however actually made the gun as the film only confirms he made the bullets) would have gone out of business supplying weapons like this as lets face it, its probably far from practical for 'wet work' :-)

FQB, the same thing happened to me with the cufflink screwing into the lighter, luckily i was able to get it out, but now it looks like maybe some of the threads are gone inside the lighter and some on the cufflink? It never screwed in hard in any way just screwed in at kind of an angle. Also, my cigarette case has some spots in it where the gold plating is very dull almost looks like fingerprints in gold plating, and gun had some light scratches in gold finish when I received it.

FQB: Thank you for your comments however the thread has not snapped off, neither has it been overtightened. The enclosed image taken today shows that the trigger will screw back on but it also illustrates how far the trigger shaft protrudes out of the cigarette case top.
Sounds like you crossthreaded the screw in the gun. I know some are getting worried but i'm not. Crossthreading a screw this small is easy. If your gun looks crooked like someone posted earlier i would not attempt to screw the trigger in. Send it to FE to get it fixed. The screw is not going to straighten it out and it WILL crossthread and in turn not go in all the way. So far i am still excited to get this and still not turned off by the gun. The way things are being shipped is though. Order #70ish and still no email even though orders over the 100 mark are already being shipped. I was going to get the cards and jaws but i'm not anymore.

Thanks for your comments but it is neither cross threaded or over tightened or snapped off. As FQB say 2 faulty units out of 1400 can't be bad. You can see from the images that the thread is straight & complete. I hope your replica is trouble free when you receive it.
If the screw is tight and is not going all the way in it is either crossthreaded or or not drilled all the way down. If it's not drilled far enough then you should still be able to remove the threaded screw and just grind it to proper length. If it's stuck in there it's either crossthreaded or overtightened. If not, then what else is there. There are only so many ways a screw can get stuck.
EDIT- Ignore my grind it down comment you'll void any warranties.
