Teppo is right – Bond uses the key to blow up the rocket… (got it after a fight with Hans…they should have used him more as he is massive)…The explosion of the volcano is in my point of view a result of all the explosions in the crater…

Well Ian why then does ESB open a concealed rock door in the wall insert a key and then pull down a lever (self destruct for the volcano lair) ? I'm not saying this is the key that Pete has, on reflection I believe it to be the Hans Rocket key, but ESB definately initiates the destruction of the volcano.
Ups – well Andy – now I remember – Donald Henry Pleasence do destroy the volcano – but the key that we did (and also shown on the poster) is the key that Blofeld gives Hans…Then later Bond and Hans have a fight where Bond takes they Key (look at the poster, where you can se a golden key coming up of Hanses pocket)… we have 2 frames to look at the key… but you are right about Blofeld destroying the volcano with a other key… So there must be two keys… more research…
Just been on the phone with the DOC member responsible for the YOLT key and he tells that Blofeld has two identical keys than can be used to either blow up the rocket (as Bond does) or blow up the vulcano… so it is up to your imagination what key you have, the one Bond gets in the fight with Hans and used to destroy the rocket or Blofelds that is used to destroy the volcano…
