Reported on mi6.co.uk - I just can't imagine Angelina Jolie as Vesper but I could definitely have seen her playing the part of Camille.
Things I hate:

2. Irony.
3. Lists.

    I just saw that too.

Site is moving fast, so you probably won't find the article up top anymore in a couple of days.

I came to like Miss Jolie in the last years quite a bit but in the end I'm glad that idea didn't work out.

She just doesn't register as Vesper.

    At all.

But in the role of Camille? I'm with you there, 007.
I like my Bond girls new and fresh though, new and fresh talent that is.
Unknown faces in those roles are like the secret ingredient in a good cocktail.
The Halle Berry disaster (for me at least it was one) made me realize that even more.

But you yourself are nothing so divine.

    Just next in line.

    I agree.

AJ would have been a good Camille, although Vesper would not have suited her.

We will see how she does as SALT. She is already on the list of Ten Sexiest Spies and the movie has not even premiered!

Thank God this didnt happen, I cant stand her. plus I dont think it helps the franchise to put someone that big time in a Bond movie

I agree too. She would be wrong playing Vesper and she is a too big star to have a recuring role, like she wanted in QoS.
I think Charlize Theron (who they say was approached) would be great playing Vesper if they had to go with a star.

It just wouldn't have fit at all.

I wonder if it was a case of Sony wanting to push a big name into the Craig films. But in the end EON had their way and went with (relative) unknowns.

And I'm glad they did. It would not have worked with Jolie.

    Eva green was perfect.

I can remember well into the Brosnan era there was talk of Robbie Williams being the next Bond because of his 'Millennium' video. It was that or toying with the idea of making James Bond a female. I think Zeta Jones and possibly Jolie were mentioned.

I'm pretty sure those conversations never happened in the offices of EON

It wouldn't have been right…happy it didn’t happen.
