I've gotta say, I never thought the ties from the Bond series would ever be made public, I figured they were specifically in singles for production purposes, but it's refreshing seeing the designs live on, either from T&A or Magnoli.

I think the description on the website is hilarious...

"This beautiful Jacquard weave tie carries an exclusive design created by Turnbull & Asser and worn by someone rather famous.........modesty forbids."

It's like they're ashamed to sell it. :p

I sprung for the TWINE boat tie - it will be my wedding tie come hell or high water!!

Thought I'd share a few pics of the TWiNE and TND ties that I picked up from T&A last week. The T&A website actually has these mislabeled - they are "Exclusive" ties, not "Classic" as you can see from the label on the back of each, which is another reason I think US customers will pay a bit more for these when ordering direct from T&A in the States. Regardless, they're gorgeous ties with beautiful construction and definitely worth the price.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

    DBS,
Can you speak to the thickness of the two ties, and how they compare overall to the Magnoli versions? (not sure if you have them)

Great pics btw, can't wait to get the Q-Boat tie :)

I'd say these ties have a fairly thick weave - certainly not thin at all. The fabric on both is really quite stunning with nice depth to the patterns and texture. They both feel quite rigid too, not soft and flexible - I would compare it to having a shirt starched at the dry cleaners. I don't own the Magnoli versions, so I can't offer up a comparison there. But here's a close-up shot of the TND pattern to give you a better view of the weave and pattern -

On a similar note, it appears that the black knitted tie worn in Dr No is still available. Apparently T & A have never stopped making it. I'm planning to revisit the store soon and will pick myself one up if there not too expensive.

Can anyone tell me about this tie? Is it a stock model that Turnbull and Asser sells?

Very nice Brosnan era ties. They look quite sharp, good detail on the weaving...good photo of it too! Thanks for sharing.

Got the 2 ties I purchased from T&A a few days ago: the DAD circles and the TND diamonds... they are FANTASTIC!

Apart from being thicker, the TND diamonds is almost identical to the one Magnoli is selling: well done Indy! For those interested, the original T&A DAD circles is actually medium grey with dark blue circles and not light blue with darker blue circles as Magnoli's. The motifs are identicals though. Again here, the T&A tie is quite thicker.

A truly great find... let's hope more of these will be coming in. My vote goes to the red T&A pipeline tie from TWINE as the next "JAMES BOND TIE TO RETURN"...

Just received all 3 ties from the T&A store in NYC via FEDEX. Magnoli makes very nice replicas but the originals are so much nicer. They feel more luxurious and definitely tie with a nicer knot. Now...what to do with my replicas? 8-)

Sorry for the double post. Don't know why it happened.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photo. I snapped this with my cell phone.

But, this was taken at Turnbull & Asser on Jermyn Street, and I was able to score the LAST TND tie they had on the rack. In fact, the salesperson who helped me said that a customer had called and asked him to set the tie aside, but his manager told him 'no way' and was told to put it back on the rack. (Sorry to whoever I swiped it from!) So I bought the tie and a blue T&A shirt to go with it to wear to dinner the following night at Scott's with some good friends (Hi Paul!) the following night. The tie really is pretty spectacular. I couldn't be happier with it.

So who knows the correct shirts to get for each tie?

So who knows the correct shirts to get for each tie?

The light blue shirt that Brosnan wore with the TND tie was also made by Turnbull & Asser. The store still hold the fabric and it is available for their customers as either bespoke or as a stock special. T & A require an initial order of six shirts for bespoke or three shirts if you go down the stock special route. You don't have to all the same style, colour etc, and there are a range of collars and cuffs to choose from. The fabric used in the shirt was a light blue Sea Island cotton, and the cost of producing the shirt as a stock special is £205, bespoke is slightly higher. T & A offer a ready made, off the shelf, light blue Sea Island cotton shirt that looks pretty spot on, and in fact it may even be exact. A call to the store would no doubt clarify that. The cost of the ready made shirt is £175.

Incidentally, the material that was used for the dress shirt worn by Craig in Casino Royale, that was released in the limited edition shirt and bow tie box set, is also still available. I'm not sure how much a shirt would be, but the maximum price T & A charge for a stock special shirt is £205.

Further to this, I was told by the sales associate at T&A that the "CR" tuxedo shirt is still in-stock and available as an off-the-rack item - no special order required (unless you want/need custom sizing). They just don't have the limited edition box set of the shirt & tie anymore. T&A also made the Joker tie from "The Dark Knight." I think that is still available as well.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

Yes, that's the one that I mentioned in my previous post. There may be more coming too...

It looks like T&A is finally realizing that you can't ignore the fans! B-)

Perhaps T&A would take "suggestions" regarding next possible tie projects. My vote would definitely got to the red TWINE pipeline tie... the DAD "London Calling" plane tie also looks nice...
