The final Bridge deal in Moonraker - help! (Spoilers)

I want to make sure I understand what happened in the final deal in Moonraker.

1) Bond fixed two packs a red and a blue pack.

2) He gave Drax all of high cards in each suit execpt the diamonds, which were the trump cards, correct?

I understand Bridge a little, when did the diamonds become the trump cards?

any help would be appreciated

btw, Drax lost the 2009 equivalent of about £322,000 ($503,000 US) in the game.

    Bond dealt himself Q and seven small diamonds and AQTxx in clubs. He bid 7 Clubs, making clubs trumps, not diamonds. Drax (on Bond's right) doubled, and he redoubled.

    Because Bond held AQT over Drax's KJ9, he could finesse clubs by leading from dummy and simply covering whatever card Drax played. To get to dummy, he ruffed diamonds twice (having dealt M a diamond void), which would drop Drax's AK doubleton. Once all the trumps had been drawn by finessing through Drax, then the diamonds were all winners.

    I have a good number of books on the game of bridge but I'm no expert. I had a history professor and supervisor who was an expert, though. I'll have a dig through my books and the Moonraker novel and get back to you on this. :) -{
