Full screen bond

Don't you just hate it when a bond film is on tv it shows in full screen, yet the dvd is in wide screen. Yet on the dvd though the better sound coding have to put up with widescreen which really annoys me. Why can't they just have the fullscreen addition as well!

I agree. Also recently I decided to fool around with my DVD player so I can see if I get the proper aspect ratio on my TV and it worked. Now I can watch those Bonds, shot 2:35:1 widescreen, properly. :)

So if I understand you correctly, CJ007Goldeneye, you prefer watching a film that's been shot in 2.35:1 not in it's original aspect ratio, but in a cropped 1.33:1 aspect ratio, meaning you lose almost half of the picture?

Do you live in America? That's the only region I know where they are used to releasing loads of films on DVD in both widescreen and 4:3 aspect ratios.

Im in England! Well i don't know all the formats except 4:3 and 16:9. I know you lose some on the sides but i just hate watchingfilms with black bars on the top and bottom, prefer if the screen is actaully full. I know theres a true widescreen tv coming out that shows the widescreen dvds and the black bars arn't on the screen.

I mis-read your OP CJ. Yeah I have to agree with Leijo007, widescreen withe black bars is so much better. You get the entire picture. I avoid fullscreen as much as I possibly can and I want to buy some movies I already own in widescreen.

I just like a 40 inch screen to show a 40 inch picture instead of losing it, i sometimes stretch the picture to fill the screen as it annoys me that much.

But the thing is you aren't loosing it. ;)

When you have a widescreen film in full screen, often details in the picture get cut-off. When it's widescreen you get all the details and nothing cut off; actors or settings. I know most are annoyed by the black bars and is natural but really, you are literally missing out on the film if you prefer fullscreen.
