brosnan as bond in 1987 ?

We know pierce almost became bond in 87, what would the living daylights have been like with him in it? Would licence to kill have been a very different movie? Would he have returned as bond in the mid 90s?

that would of be horrible. Lo, ok, brosnan is a good bond, goldeneye was brilliant not so sure about the others but brosnan ina pivitil point with lieter and his wife would be like moore being in OHMSS. Not saying that their bad bonds, just saying that each are diffirent and should be in diffirent movies. What if lazenbury stayed for daf, that woulld be awful!

Well, the films are tailored to the actors. LTK would not have happened with Brosnan, it was always a Dalton revenge vehicle.

I think he'd have been better in TLD myself, could buy him doing the romantic stuff with Kara, Dalton always seemed a bit stiff (and not in a good way!)

I think PB would have been too young looking. Just look at Remmington Steele. I think he was nicely rounded by Goldeneye and it's one of my favourite Bonds. OK - the music score throughout is a bit dire and of its time, but otherwise I think it all holds up quite well.

I agree he was too much the pretty boy back then and didnt have the look of a seasoned agent, but I thought he was outstanding in GE

I can't imagine Brosnan being as convincing as Dalton after that PTS. A veteran secret who is tired of the killing and just wants to get the dirty job over with.

I'm not sure about LTK in 1989 but I can actually imagine him in TLD. I can also picture him in OHMSS (had he been a bit older). IMO he had the sensitivity to pull the more vulnerable side of James Bond off.

A bit ? Yeah, I think a 16 year old Bond would not have gone over well with audiences. :))

In my view, Dalton is a better Bond than Brosnan. Had Brosnan portrayed Bond in The Living Daylights it would be worse off as a movie. After the Moore era, Bond needed to return to its original Fleming roots, and that's the character that Dalton portrayed so well. I think that of all Bond actors, Dalton is the one whose performances as Bond most closely resembles the Bond that Fleming wrote - a secret agent whose job demands him to be "as cold about death as a surgeon", but who disliked killing in cold blood and would only kill if he had to.

As I am not happy with Brosnan as Bond and love Dalton I think the other way around…

What if Dalton had been bond on OHMSS etc

Dalton was 23 years old when OHMSS was done. I don't think having a 23 year old Bond would sit well with the fans.

In keeping with "what if", I think I'd much rather see Connery remain as Bond in OHMSS, then let Moore take over in DAF. Oh well.

Fair – what about Dalton in OP…another rumour

I could actually imagine BOTH Dalton or Brosnan in an OHMSS-style film (i.e. Bond showing more of a vulnerable, human side).

As for Dalton in OP, not really unless they re-wrote the script and cut out most of the humour. Wouldn't have thought he would have been comfortable with lines like:
"Having problems keeping it up Q?"
"Torro, that sounds like a load of bull"
    "Hiss off"

These are Roger Moore-esque lines and a big part of the film (not that they weren't entertaining with Moore - they just weren't Dalton's style).

I can however imagine Dalton in the more intense scenes towards the end (i.e. frantically hurrying to the circus to diffuse the bomb), though maybe not dressed as a clown :) .

Dalton would have been perfect in OHMSS if he was between 35 and 39.
