    a good visit at Beaulieu on Sunday... nice to meet a couple of you, faces to names etc ....
    thanks again andy for the gift, nice one... hope you all had a worthwhile trip -{ -{

    if any one gets the chance to come down south, its not a bad exhibition of vehicles & water craft etc. There are some nice smaller prop items to see also ie. mechanical version of the GE piton gun - surf board - radar knife etc.

    maybe the one later in the year will have more gadgets... :)

    ITS ALL ABOUT THE GADGETS!!!!

    was the knife in the board? i wouldn't mind seeing that.

    It was out of the board and was the hero action mechanical prop, was very difficult to discern the knife origin from the prop. Will try and put some photos up, haven't had time to look at them yet. Great to see Paul W and to meet Lexi and Paul (Bondpropfan)............ on the whole Pete you weren't missed :D

    from what i remember pal, the knife wasn't based on anything on the market, prob due to the handle being so big to house the dish.

    Actually Jeff the handle was a lot slimmer than most combat knives on the market today, I was really surprised by how slim it was. The whole mechanism was mechanical from what I could see, the only electrical component being the center LED. All of the extension and rotation was achived manually by bowden cables operated from out of shot. I think this is how a lot of the various prop effects are achieved which only goes to prove that when we prop makers make something fully enclosed and autonimous it is normally a far superior prop to the original screen seen action version.

    Thanks Paul, well Jeff a picture paints a thousand words, must get around to downloading my phots, but you can see what I mean now. So who's going to be first t ID the handle of the knife? I'm sure it didn't start out life as a knife.

    It probably started out life as a piece of chemiwood, and was shaped accordingly, with influence from the art dept. :p
