I think Craig will want to. He is a genuine fan of Bond, but he wants to be in the role for moire than two films and use it to springboard on to other things, although he is a huge star now. The Bond franchise have only just started this new thread, they will want him around for a while yet.

I can't help but compare the situation to that of twenty years ago, when legal problems caused a long (six years!) delay between LTK and GE. Dalton got fed up waiting, asked to be released from his three-film contract, and was replaced by Brosnan. An almost total change of senior staff (producers, writers etc) coincided, albeit partly due to ill-health (Cubby Broccoli) and death (Richard Maibaum).
Michael Wilson has admitted to needing a break... Craig may get frustrated with waiting...

Well we haven't seen things get this bad yet. Sam Mendes looks like he's still on board and I believe Peter Morgan as well. Mostly importantly, QOS was a success unlike LTK.

And yet the parallels are still there. LTK's storyline has 007 on a mission of revenge with strong personal elements in Latin America, quarrelling with M, linking up with a lady on a tied-in quest, in the actor's second Bond film. Production of the third has been delayed owing to factors outside the immediate production. Just like QoS!
LTK was only a relative failure- no Bond film has lost money!- and both films have polarised the fanbase,

Well just because a film dosen't loose money dosen't mean it can't be a flop. Licence To Kill's US gross was only about two million more than the budget, that's pretty damn bad. Yes, there are some parallels but it's not as serious now.Lastly, what Bond film HASN'T polarised the fanbase ? :))
