Bond on Blue Ray

Does anyone know when a box with all 22 Bond films will be released on Blue ray?

A while to wait yet sadly. The releases came to a sudden halt when MGM went belly up.

Some have said there won't be anymore until Bond 23 and some say next year. In a case of waiting and seeing. Dying to see Spy, YOLT and OHMSS on bluray so I hope it's sooner rather than later.

Has anyone heard anymore about the QoS Blu-ray special edition that briefly had a release date and then just disappeared? I'm assuming it's also on hold until MGM is sorted out but wondered if anyone had heard anything differently?

I don't think the special edition of QoS ever had an actual release date - a bit of confusion came in when the R4 release listed itself as the special edition. It was said by Marc Forster that it was being worked on, but it's on hold with the rest of the Blurays - they'll get there in the end. Royal pain in the rear though.

Hopefully the future Blu Rays will not have a defective transfer like Thunderball does. Someone here started a thread to show just how poor the transfer on the blu ray is, and he is right. I am very glad that the Ultimate Edtion DVD does not suffer from this fate.

I know these days it's a all question of Money, but other series/franchises get a much better deal in the extras department as well. The extras on the James Bond releases are all great but they really should put everything possible on them.

The Russell Harty interview with Roger Moore and Herve Villechaize is butchered to the point of making it unwatchable, the Whickers World YOLT edition is an hour of pure gold and reduced to a few minutes of 'highlights' on the dvd.

There was recently some extra footage from Goldfinger found, but that will be unlikely to be seen on the blurays - this by the way was a collection of film trims which would be clapperboards, set ups etc

and so on and so on. There are so many TV specials out there and unseen footage that is readily available that really should be on the discs. Notably the making of the Spy who loved me from the BBC.

You only have to look at the love and care that goes into other releases such as the Alien set, the forthcoming Star Wars bluray set, the Original series Doctor Who releases and several stand alone films to see how it should be done.

I understand that there is a sizable audience who don't care for the special features and just want the best possible quality version of the movies themselves, but there are a great many people for whom the extras are so important.

Thankfully, many of these are available 'elsewhere' and there is some lovely stuff on a certain video site, but it would nice to have all this stuff in one place in the best quality.

I have the Blu-Ray's of both Goldfinger and Thunderball. While I must say that Goldfinger looks better than Thunderball, I'm not sure what is "defective" about the transfer of Thunderball (it looked pretty darn good on my 46" Sony).

Well, MGM seems to be sorting itself out - so fingers crossed for some more next year!

I finally broke down and got a blu-ray player, well actually will get one as I used my airline miles to get one for free, but will have to wait for it to be delivered. Had a hard time picking out a model as I used Amazon to do some research and they almost all had some positive reviews followed by poor reviews. Ended up going wth a Panasonic model which seemed to have a number of good reviews. I will be purchasing the Bond films once again, this will the third time and I hope last. I am most looking forward to TB as I think it was a cinematically the best Bond film ever.

Personally I awaiting for special or ulitmate Blu-Ray editions of the Bond films. I don't have a Blu-ray player and I am in no hurry to get one. Also I am only going to get the Blu-ray 60's Bond films.

Arriving late to blu, I've owned a Sony player since last year but am finally hooked up with a HD TV and home theater. By no means a tech expert, I haven't even purchased the HDMI cables but was still impressed by the picture quality using regular component connections. (Only have three blu-rays, no Bond as of yet)

A quick question, is TSWLM, OHMSS, and YOLT the only holdouts at this time?

The Living Daylights is also one of the films that is not yet out on Blu Ray.

As mentioned earlier another user on this message board pointed out that the picture quality on the Thunderball Blu Ray is rather poor, with tracking errors and dirt present on the film that was not thier before. I mentioned in that thread that in the future this will not happen with other Bond films. Personaly I think that MGM should offer to correct the Blu rays or offer customers thier money back since Blu Rays are priced higher than standerd DVD's.

No but there is a HD version of it (TLD)
