Is there a particular film that you are OBSESSED with?

Ever since I was 16 and had a free afternoon from college - for no reason at all I decided to hire Thunderball. wasn't even that into Bond. Oh how that changed overnight! I'm now 36 and Thunderball has been my favourite film for nearly all that time. As a collector and fan it has the whole package for me - the film is gorgeous, fun and exciting. The girls are stunning - Claudine Auger really is to die for, Connery at his peak, The villain suave and deliciously evil, the artwork, the gadgets, the brochures, the music, the merchandise and THAT esquire cover from 1965 is one of the best shots of Connnery as Bond I've ever seen.

That said, ever since the Making of OHMSS came out I am in a serious 1969 phase and it's in danger of toppling my beloved TB. If only we could have a book like that on Thunderball B-)

I'm not starting yet another 'favourite this or that thread' but I'd be interested to know if anyone else is as obsessed with one particular film and why.

    Mine is NSNA.

Yes, I know, I hate it. But I am obsessed in a negative way. Everytime I sit on the bog to take a crap, my mind turns to the film, I start to analyse it. I am not joking. It's some kind of OCD. :o

I do have a copy of it with the Barry soundtrack superimposed, though it doesn't improve it too much. I think about how you could do the opening different; with Iko Iko by the Belle Stars over the intro. You could start with the space capsule from YOLT, then cut away and you see one of the guards is watching it on his telly in the watchtower. Or start with the gunbarrel, then have the funked up Bond theme playing over Dr No style credits.

As for TB, I was keen on this and GF back in the day cos they seemed to be the only Bond films on telly in the 1970s for a good few years. I was 11 before I got to see FRWL on telly. When they got round to showing Dr No, around 1985, it had massive viewing figures simply because it hadn't been shown for years. So my obsession was based on two films really, which I saw on a 21in b+w telly, but that was enough!

Back in my early days as a Bond fan, I was obsessed with Moonraker (of all films!) :))

I would not say that I am obsessed with any particular Bond film anymore. Obviously, I have my favourite (From Russia With Love), but it is far from an obsession... My obsession is film in general!

I'm obsessed with Goldeneye, although this could be down to the countless hours of playing the N64 game over the years.

I know it's not the best of the Bond films by any stretch, and I'm not sure you would call it an obsession, but the one I watch most often is You Only Live Twice. For some reason, I get more enjoyment from watching YOLT than any other Bond film, followed closely by Goldfinger and On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

I'm with you on Thunderball, to me it is the best. the location, the story, and Claudine Auger it has everything you would want in a Bond movie. Whenever I feel like watching a Bond movie that is right thee at the top.

Yup, it has to be Thunderball for me, too. Location, story, and the music! Not to mention Sir Sean, Terence Young's wipes, and the beautiful cinematography. Granted, it drags in places (and has dated, too, but I can live with that) but it has that wonderful 007 "feel" to it.

It has always been OHMSS for me.
The first time I saw it was at a drive in movie in the early '70's, on a double bill with YOLT.
That car, the skiing, and the music struck a cord.
Next, I was horrified to see the US TV premiere in 1976, and became obsessed to see it in its theatrical form again, just to be sure that I wasn't crazy.
A few years later, on Christmas Day, no less, a local theatre played 2 Bonds later in the evening for those of us stuffed, and sick of relatives. What a gift from my sister, 2 tix to see OHMSS in the theatre. Even though the sound did not come on for a full minute after the gunbarrel, we eased in knowing that the film was put right again.
The music is part of my life, as I hum different cues every day, and, now at 46, am in a position to restore my dream car, the Aston Martin DBS.
I have been a voice in the wilderness, defending OHMSS over the years to Roger Moore loving fans, who poo pooed Service, as they usually had only seen it on American TV. (Damn the ABC cutters all to hell...)
Made it all the better, as this is a film that I had to work for to love!
So, it has been called "a flawed gem." Aren't we all?

Prerequisite for my new girlfriend: watch and memorize lines from OHMSS. She even let me keep my Lazenby autographed photo which hangs prouldy in my living room. Bless her.

Well, back to work- you've no idea how it's piling up!

For me its Goldeneye. The first Bond film I watched and the one that got me into the series. Wore out my VHS copy of it long ago, thank god for dvd :D .

Great mix of glamour, suspense, action and humour. A lot of people don't like the score but I personally love it, makes the film more distinctive.

Pierce is superb as 007 aswell.

    Brilliant!!

I saw "For your eyes only" about a million times when I was a boy. The action sequences were amazing.
The ski chase is still the best ski chase ever filmed.
