DEFIANT 74205 IMHO just best to accept that because of your & my view on this subject our opinions are open to misinterpretation therefore we may be branded as rednecks or racist. I intended not to post here again but reading the latest prompted me to.
If I may I should like to recount a little incident which happened to me in the real world some time ago. I was working night shift in a certain city in the UK & during the course of my duties I happened upon an individual laying at the roadside. It later transpired that said person had been seriously assaulted. Now this was about three AM & there was absolutely no one about. I could see that the victim was black, had I chosen to I could have driven by & left him to his fate - no one would ever have known I had been there. When I got to him I could see that he was moments away from death, he was laying on his back partially conscious & his airway had become blocked. He was in effect choking to death. I rendered him emergency aid & thus saved his life. I not only saved his life but I also tracked down those who were responsible & made sure they were brought to justice (they were white BTW). The man survived & later thanked me by letter.
But just because I don't want a black James Bond for the reasons I stated some perceive it as racist?
This is the most divisive thread on the whole forum with people from both camps occasionally popping out of their trench to fire a salvo at the other side - most of which has already been said on previous pages. Whatever your opinion on this subject, it may be best if we could just all simply agree to disagree?
This post has prompted me to make what will be my last comment on this subject. Your actions regarding the individual you found nearly unconscious on the roadside bespeaks volumes about the type of individual you are. That is far more important than what any of us thinks about the race of a fictional character. You are correct, we will probably just continue to go around in circles and disagree about this. I honestly believe that most of the opposition to a Black Bond expressed in this forum has nothing to do with racism and most support for the idea is more than mere "PC" pot-stirring. In my opinion it was an interesting idea worth discussing. But I'm done discussing it.
Thank you for putting things in perspective, stag. -{
My opinion, a clean shaven Gerard butler for the next bond. He's Scottish, he's rugged/strong. He's not angelic looking but can look good in a suit. You could argue he's not far off bonds from the past. I would love to see him as bond!
