Ian Fleming would do somersaults in his grave if this were true. The basics for Bond are upper class white Englishman. They can get around accent and hair colour....but race and age.
"Englishman"?
Ian Fleming's James Bond has a Scottish father and a Swiss mother. Don't know how you missed that.

He's an product of his English public school upbringing.

I just wondered why you don't take the chance to learn the common language so that anyone outside of your neck in the woods can understand what you are saying ) ) )

Not sure how that supports your argument against Bond being recast as black...
Oh, on this forum I've p*ssed off a lot of you pack - so I better stay away - far away from it

But it's good to finally - after all these years - to get some love and respect from an AJB member.
It became such an unfriendly hostile place since Sir Miles came around.. (Shedding a tear)

I honestly don't think Idris Elba is any more likely to be the next Bond than I am, but it's an interesting discussion - just another offshoot of the "Who will be the next James Bond?" thing that crops up whenever the current actor is closer to the end of his run than the beginning. Looking down the long road of the future, of course anything is possible; as with most things, the traditionalists, purists and change-advocates all have dogs in the hunt. Cheers! -{

I agree that the "Idris Elba as Bond talk" is just that - talk. It's not going to happen. But if this idea had been under serious consideration five or so years ago, I wouldn't have ruled out the possibility.
