There's a simple reason why Cavill should never be Bond.
The truth is, when I see him, it's like looking in a mirror. Basically, he looks exactly like me. Personally, I want a Bond who looks different, as it gets a bit spooky otherwise.
(You can PM me Al'. easyJet are doing cheap flights to London this time of year, if you hurry.... )
OMG I had a Henry Cavill here and I never knew. I already booked my flight to London (first class, who do you think you're talking to? ) A Bond girl doesn't fly easyJet! Alitalia at the very least! Not that it offers better service ) )
Now, I can wear my 11 cm heels no problem since you're as tall as Henry. Swoooon. Get ready. )
This is you coming to get me at the airport by the way: Hello, Mr Bond. :007) :x :x
Okay, that's a bit scary... X-( Why are you posting footage of me up on ajb, Al'? It's frankly a bit odd that you've been filming me without my permission.
Oh! Hang on, sorry, that's Mr Cavill. Yeah, okay, I get that a lot. You can see why he shouldn't be Bond.
Anyway, feel free to come over Al. Just one problem; there's a cash flow snag my end and the magazine hasn't come up with two month's wages. Seems I face eviction, I don't know what to do. I guess, you could always wire a few grand in cash, that way I can set you up in style and also pay you back asap. PM me.
I also have a Nigerian prince who's a friend of mine, he's in exile but he'd love to speak to you.
) ) ) ) )
Why do I always end up with men who are beautiful and broke. Must be my trait or something. ) Nobody can accuse me of loving for money, THAT is for sure ) ) )
BTW, Henry just called. He wants to know who is this imposter who goes around claiming it's him, sneaking into clubs, premieres, first-class lounge at the airport... you don't happen to know anything about this NP, do you? ;% ) )
"Are we on coms?" (if you don't know where this is from... you've missed some really good stuff! )
Im not saying that he got any work done, I'm just saying that once he inhabited the role his looks changed and maybe Cavill could do the same.
And Bond is 6 feet not 6'1 read the books Zaphod.
No need to be terse Lexi. My point does not turn upon the specifics of 6ft or 6ft1. And for the record Fleming makes both statements in different texts. My point is the precise opposite , in as much as that all we can really take from Fleiming is that 'Bond is tall' which has countless confirmations in the Novels. We must interpret 'tall' as 'by the prevailing standards of the day' as what was 'tall' in 1953 patently is not so now. Therefore we need to adjust for 'height inflation' as people are taller now than when Fleming creted him. What is undeniable is the intention to make him significantly taller than average. Fleming clearly thought it important as it is stressed so often.
Hang on.... I wasn't talking about height.... I was talking about cosmetic surgery..... and the fact that I don't think Craig has any done... as suggested in a much earlier post.
Hey, I'm not bothered too much about height - I used to be - being 6'1 myself, I always said I would never go out with a man shorter than myself..... HOWEVER - I've realised that was very short sighted of me )
I have always thought that someone taller than me, would make me feel more 'protected' but I realise how silly that is. Firstly, because most men (I've got to be careful here not to rile up certain people on here..... and say some outlandish sexist comment ) feel intimidated by my height anyway, and also, height makes no difference to 'toughness' - in fact my ex is only 5'9 - but very muscular - he took my 6'4 brother on in a fight once, and won with ease.
I always had this romantic notion that my partner had to be taller than me, and when I wear heels, that would mean they would have to be over 6'4..... and there aren't many of them around But, actually it doesn't matter at all..... when you love someone, it makes no difference to their stature..... it's how they make you feel that counts :x
I was responding to your comment " and Bond is 6ft not 6'1 read the books Zaphod" Of course its about a lot more than height, and I was never talking about real life, but a fictional and highly idealised yet real Hero.
Alessandra, I completely agree with you. I believe Cavill would be a great long term choice to play Bond. I haven't seen all of his work, however, what I have seen is Bond material. Cavill is a nice refreshing new talent that has blessed our TV's and screens. I look forward to see what else is in store for Cavill, hopefully Hollywood hangs onto this one. I fully believe in the next 15 years, Cavill will be amongst the Hollywood elite (members such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Nick Cage, Harrison Ford, Denzel Washington). These men can basically take on any role and make it their own. I would like to see Cavill do a comedy (attempt to close the circle of genre he has played).
Alessandra--I mean no disrespect, but you seem to know a great deal about Henry Cavill and his life work. Are you a huge fan, friend, agent or just a interested party?????

if we are being precise I said 'work' not surgery. I suspect a good deal of Botox not knifework
Oddly, I saw Steve McQueen in one of his early roles, Never So Few, which starred Frank Sinatra. He plays a driver/wily black market rakateer who describes his activites to an astonished Sinatra, my point is in one shot McQueen seems a good foot shorter than Sinatra and his two colleagues, and Sinatra was never tall himself. I don't know if they made Frank look taller in this film cos he's supposed to be an officer, or whether McQueen, like Craig, was on the short side. Very strange.
Love Craig as Bond but saw The Jacket the other day and when I saw him in that I was thinking "how the hell did he ever get cast as Bond in the first place"...

Craig reminds me a little of Steve McQueen. Neither is good looking in the conventional way, but have a great deal of presence on the screen. I would imagine they raised Sinatra a little - he was the big star in that film after all.

Bang on - I remember reading this at the time DC became Bond - "A Washington Post film critic described Craig as "the next Steve McQueen". "He has McQueen's way of dominating without bullying. He's also handsome in a rugged way, thin and strong," wrote journalist Stephen Hunter. Steve McQueen as James Bond? Now that's casting."

I noticed the similarity too, very odd.

The Craig / McQueen comparison is pretty spot on. Craig IMO does have a pretty striking physical resemblance to McQueen. With regard to the actual heights of actors, thats always been a pretty dicey proposition especially when it comes to actors who are not tall. The true heights of tall actors are usually pretty well known....Connery 6'2"; John Wayne 6'4"; James Stewart 6'4"; etc. It's not as bad as it used to be when even actors of average height would always have a couple inches tacked on in their bios or publicity materials. I think it's pretty much accepted that Craig is at least 5'10" or so but not 6" and personally I have no problem with a 5'10" James Bond. McQueen is typically listed as having been 5'10" but I have read articles claiming him to be as short as 5'6" (which I personally do not believe). More than likely McQueen was a man of average height (as were his contemporaries Paul Newman and Robert Redford). What it really comes down to is screen presence, charisma, and the magic of the camera.

Yes. Take Humphrey Bogart. He was only 5'7 but by god, he always looked bigger than everyone else on screen.
Honestly who cares if craig looks like McQueen or not or how tall or short they both are.I thought this is about Henry Cavill as 007 no 7 which imo he ticks all the boxs and then some.
As to when well as I have said earlier I would like him to step into the role for 23 but with reluctance I suppose I could wait till 24 and let Putins older, uglier and shorter brother do his bad impression of a sauve secret agent for 23.

Superdaddy, it's called conversation Yes, we have diverted a little..... but isn't that what a good conversation is about?... Sorry if we diverted the conversation......what was the subject? Oh yeah let's dump that midget troll DC and get Henry Cavill or was it when DC is finished his run as Bond would Henry Cavill be a good replacement.

I was just going to say that. Yes, DC and McQueen do look very close in appearance. Hopefully Daniel Craig will appear in a Mcqueen biopic soon.
