    MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR:

    Dear 007 MAGAZINE reader My sincere apologies for the delay in the delivery of this latest issue, 007 MAGAZINE ARCHIVE FILES: James Bond Promotional Posters & Artwork – File #1.
    This delay has been caused by the original print run of the magazine being far below the quality we all expect from a 007 MAGAZINE publication. As I flicked through the pages of this latest issue and the black ink came off on to my fingers I immediately realised something was seriously wrong! In addition to the ink not being fast, the colour was also flat and lifeless and lacked the vibrancy of the original poster images illustrated. It then took a number of days to secure the services of a new printer, as the company engaged to print the original job believed what they had supplied was of an acceptable quality and refused to reprint this issue. However, in reality the job was not fit for purpose. This issue will now enter the Royal Mail postal system on 10/05/12. I continue to take pride in the presentation and print quality of the 007 MAGAZINE publications, and anything below par isn’t good enough by my standards, and subsequently those expected by our many loyal readers around the world, many of whom have purchased 007 MAGAZINE for 30 years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who have supported, and continue to support, 007 MAGAZINE over the last three decades, it is sincerely appreciated.

    Best wishes G r a h a m R y e

    Is it me, or do Graham Rye's "007 Archive Files" magazines keep getting better and better? The latest - devoted entirely to promotional artworks from around the world - is my without a doubt favourite to date. It's not the biggest, but it is the best. And it's certainly Bond (and beyond)! I've been an avid Bond fan for over 40 years, but there are heaps of illustrations in here I've never encountered before. From the glorious UK double-feature quads (echoing halcyon days for yours truly, whose first dip into the 60s Bonds was via a slew of those double bill re-runs in the early 70s) to the selection of photos devoted to marquees from around the world, every page is a joy. The icing on the cake? The words "Volume 1" atop the front cover. Given that this issue primarily covers the 60s, please don't keep us waiting too long for "Volume 2" (the 70s, 80s and beyond?), Graham! :)

    Mine arrived yesterday...and I'm so glad Mr Rye held off until the print quality was right...he deserves huge credit for doing that -{

    It's another super issue, which I look forward to reading in detail very soon :)

    To chime in where others have already trod & yes I know I originated the post but my copy also arrived yesterday & like the previous comments to this post I was taken a back by the high quality & picture content contained in this premiere poster special publication. The Australian content was particularly interesting as Graham points out how the Aus' advertising catch lines differed from the classic lines created for the US/UK campaigns. As my family are part Aus' (ewwww Aussie Donks!) I don't think its out of place for me to say the Aus' catch lines are almost " James Bloody Bond is Back" there's only one Bloody Bond & Thunderball's the Biggest of them all! Not suitable for kids. There are of course posters you will have seen before but probably more important those you may think you've seen before. There are one or two which have been added to my must have list. As a poster collector I can ony hope that the Archive Files poster files will grow to cover the full 50 year span. As an archivist of original images one can only imagine what rarities Graham will feature in future publications and yes it was most definitely worth the slight delay.
