Dream casting - Modesty Blaise

For years one of my favourite "not really made yet" movies is Modesty Blaise. I know there are two MB movies, but they are ****. I have fun dream casting the movie.

My favourites are Gemma Arterton:

Or Eva Green:

What do you think? Who would you like to see playing Modesty?

I'd pick Eva Green over Gemma Arterton any day...

Is she English? Would Angelina Jolie be any good?

Eva Green is French/Danish. Gemma Arterton is English. Or did you ask about Modesty? Modesty is of European origin, perhaps from the Balkans, but she speaks perfect English.
I think Angelina Jolie could be a good Modesty, but perhaps people would asociate her too much with Lara Croft?
Perhaps Anne Hathaway could be a fine Modesty. She is turning out to be a very good actress (Brokeback mountain, Rachel getting married, Love and other drugs) and she has good Modesty look. But is she curvy like Modesty and can she handle the action scenes?

I did mean is Modesty English. Thing is, I feel the character may need an actress who brings personality to the table, rather as Connery did with Bond. In that sense Hathaway would be good, but it's unusual to have any actress who can carry a movie in that way somehow. I mean, maybe Julia Roberts in her day. Gemma A might be good but I dunno. She does have some of her own personality, but that Persia rubbish didn't do her any favours.

In a way, a TV series might be better, it's less of a macho format.

I'd go for the red head from MAD MEN - she IS Modesty!

Great idea! Christina Hendricks is good actress, she has the right look (but has to dye her hair) and doesn't carry "baggage" in the sense the cinema audience doesn't know her from too simular roles.

    What about Willie Garvin?
I think Michael Fassbender, Kevin McKidd (From the HBO series Rome) or Natan Fillion

No I think Angelina Jolie has done too may other action roles.

In looks I like Gina Gershon (who was in Showgirls) or Claudia Black from Farscape (Sci-fi tv series).

But they're both a bit older now. You need a black haired sophisticate who can do martial arts fighting.

For Willie Garvin - that blond bloke from Hustle TV series-he's got a cockney accent !

By the way my book interests are James Bond, Modesty Blaise, John Le Carre and best of all the Quiller spy books by Adam Hall.
