X-Men First Class is getting early rave reviews, saying it's the best Marvel film yet, better than Spiderman 2 and Iron Man even.
The first few trailers to this really looked great, but the more recent spots with the kiddie mutants trying to fit in and make friends have kind of dampened my enthusiasm a little bit. I'll probably still see it but it seems a bit of that awkward not-fitting-in angst from the first couple of films has creeped into this as well. I know that was a big part of the comics but, much like Peter Parker's suffering, its been done to death in the movies and I'd just like to see something else.
Really wanna see this. 'The Artist,' from the director of the OSS 117 movies. Set in 20's Hollywood as the silent era ends. Jean Dujardin stars as a fading matinee idol. Looks stunning.

Really looking forward to the Girl with the Dragon tattoo! I think it´s gonna be a well-made hollywood remake, think daniel craig is a good fit for the movie and always liked Fincher´s movies. can't wait to see it!
Brand is the Most Talentless person on the planet, The movie will be crap, but it will not effect his popularity with Teens and he will go on making pointless crude teen conedies for years to come. a kind of S Segal of Btitish comedy
Agreed. I find it offensive that someone is prepared to trample a classic just to boost a career which won't give anyone fond memories.

Bridesmaids is next on my list but I'm hesitant about who to see it with... It's out now so some time this week.
Saw that with the Hardygirl about a month ago and we both found it hilarious. In some ways it's "girls behaving badly," and it somewhat tests your tolerance for gross-out humor; but there's a lot to laugh at.
Will do for your Bond fix. Interesting as it is awesome yet belongs to the Brosnan era in a way. You can't see Craig competing with this nor should he. All lavish, slightly implausible stuff, its awesomeness sort of goes hand in hand with its implausiblity so you can't complain. Seems more of the same though, with a lack of heart. Cruise's schtick is running a bit thin.

I'll see it, of course. I see them all. Always interesting to see how they strive to push it a bit farther...agreed that Bond shouldn't just try to get bigger and crazier in competition...better to bring back some charm and panache as a garnish to the action.

Looks good, a bit like that German Cold War movie of a few years back about eavesdropping. The Lives Of Others, I think. Period cinematography. Might be a bit studied.
The Guard. I love Brendan Gleeson, and In Bruges (although not the same director/writer, his brother in fact) is one of my favorite movies ever. Apparently it's having a limited release in the US on July 29th. Hopefully it's screening somewhere in Chicago, because I've been waiting a long time to see it.

Hi NP. Yep. My mothers from Greece. My pop was in the USAF so we traveled a lot. Tintin isn't widely recognized in the US so I doubt I'd have become familiar with him if I was solely raised here. Luckily that wasn't the case. My first book was Prisoners Of the Sun bought in Bern around 1979. Must have read it 100 times the first month. I speak Greek like a native but my reading skills consist of capital letters. ) For some reason those comics translated over never used smaller case and they remained my solitary method to learn. My grandmother would help me with some words.
Anyway. Go see Tintin!

Me too. Well, I never read Asterix, but I was a big Tintin fan. I can't wait for this film to be released Those were the days indeed, brings back memories of my teenage years

Really, Sir Miles. Didn't like the redefinition of Holmes as House (who himself is based on Holmes, for cryin' out loud!), Holmes's and Watson's bickering relationship, and all the rah-rah action and special effects. I don't think any Holmes movie needs to be slavishly faithful to Conan Doyle, but there should be something of Doyle's in there. . .
I love the Jeremy Brett series of Holmes stories, very much the traditional Holmes.( and the recent BBC update ) But I love a good action romp and especially the victorian era. I must be one of the few who liked "The wild,wild west" as it's from basicialy the same time period. Steam power weapons etc.
I recenrly read an article about earily missile attempts and was suprised to learn that the Americans way back, only a couple of years after the wright Bros, tried fitting a Bi-plane ( insert sex joke ) with gyroscopes and filled with explosives as an eairly Missile. Sadly it Failed but the idea was there. B-)

Not bad, perhaps a bit steam punk going on Wild Wild West... Hope they keep the jokes to a minimum. Some of the dialogue is a bit 'now'...
