Some cool Bond 23 Info

My friend at Pinewood Studios has given me some cool info about Bond 23. He's currently working on designs for the next Superman movie and he has worked with Bond 23 Production Designer Michael Carlin and passed on the info to me.

*The title will defenitely have 'Red' in there somewhere. Sam Mendes and Purvis/Wade want the film to be called Red Shadow while EON/Danjaq favour Red Sky At Night which they feel is a more traditional Bond movie title

* There is a spectacular battle scene/set piece set at CN Tower Toronto, Canada. The movie will be a showcase for Canada and will show the country in a light not seen by movie goers before, showing the beauty and the glamour the country has to offer in places like Toronto, Ontario, Vancouver etc. This ties in with the Winter sports theme the movie has involving skiing, bob sleding and a huge Ice Hockey game that Bond goes to watch.

* The main gadget of the movie is an ultra souped up BMW motorbike, complete with rocket launching missiles, lazer beams, all the trimmings. Bonds motorcycle helmet will be akin to Iron Mans armour and he will be able to access files etc and talk to Q or whatever character the movie uses. This is the one aspect of the production design that everyone is clamouring to work on coz theres a feeling that the bike will become iconic and a must have toy for kids. Apparently the script/storyboards calls for the most ambitious, adrenalin pumping exciting motorbike chase ever filmed.

*Kevin Spacey is in talks with Sam Mendes about playing Blofeld in the movie. They last worked together on American Beauty and are keen to work together again

Hope you find this interesting guys, take it with a pinch of salt coz it could all change tomorrow but my friend is reliable with this sort of stuff and ive never known him to be wrong, BTW you wouldnt believe the things hes told me bout the Superman Reboot!

As I mentioned in another thread, there is an EON link to Toronto as there's a large Pinewood Studios there and 'Dream House' was entirely filmed in Toronto and the surrounding area. Canada was mentioned in a number of Fleming's novels and yet no film has ever been shot there - so if they're looking for a 'new' location that has experienced crews and top class facilities, it would make sense.

I am not at all fussy on the ice hockey match idea as anything remotely linked with Bibi's pursuit of her grandfatherly Bond in 'For Your Eyes Only' gives me the creeps. The CN Tower would work. A team of Royal Marines once repelled 1,135 feet from the main observation deck and stuntman Dar Robinson did a cable-jump from the same height (like a bungee jump except on a thin metal cable with a brake rather than elastic), so a movie stunt could be quite spectacular and would not be unprecedented.

Riding a kitted-out red motorbike down the CN Tower at night while playing ice hockey would be different though :D

If this is true, then I'm not all that keen on either Kevin Spacey playing Blofield or the Winter Sports theme. Whilst I'm up for Bond to visit Canada, if they had to choose a sport for him to do then I'd rather they just stick to either skiing or bob sleding as those two and Bond watching the hockey seem to have a link to FYEO (50th anniversary perhaps?). As for the motorbike, nice idea but perhaps should contain less gadgets and the producers should toss in a car for the film's proper main vehicle.

Can't really see much of this happening, The Tower stunt sequence, I've read before Somewhere. The Motorbike sounds to be going against the producers thinking,Keeping D Craigs Bond more in keeping with the Books and less gadgets etc. It could Happen But many Movies Leak stuff to keep other Film companys guessing as to what their really doing.

From what i gathered the approach to Bond 23 is actually to do something along the lines of The Spy Who Loved Me for a 2012 audience.

Gerard Butler is Zack Snyders number 1 choice to play Superman and has had costume fittings screen tests etc.

My friend has contacts at Pinewood too. He says it's more than likely that the crew of Bond 23 will be served sausage, beans and chips at least once a week during filming, whilst Craig and the main actors will be served Noisette of Lamb, Pommes Dauphinaise and fines beans with a balsamic vinegarette, possibly twice during the shoot. More often than not it will be beef bourgignon, a herby mashed potato and peas (the latter keeping better at temperature if the shoots over-run). There will also be a PA/runner called Harriet, about 30, (a bit sloany) who wears her Gucci sunglasses on top her head even on cloudy days, drives a mini one or Fiat 500, calls everyone "Darling" and carries a clip-board close to her ample breasts. All of this could be true, or utter bo**ocks...

I kind of like the motorcycle thing. Bond always has tricked out cars, but the nifty bikes always seem to belong to the bad guys.

Spacey played Dr. Evil in Austin Powers 3? I doubt they would have him play the real Blofeld in a real Bond movie.

glad you can see past the smokescreen of daft rumours.

i know, yes kids listen up, i know that EON view this and other forums. I also know that if you 'have a friend' on the inside, then you don't go public with it, and even if you're daft enough to do that, you never mention names.

as soon as news of Bond 23 broke, the rumour mill went into overdrive. the only type of people to start these rumours are attention seeking nutters, who'd love to claim they know people involved, but in reality probably know deep down that they are in fact, talking a right load of bollox.

I have a chrystal Ball and Will now Put my reputation on the Line by Making My Predictions For Bond 23, The next Bond will Have ...................................................................................

Bond will be played by a Male Actor. It's not very clear but I do see Blonde Hair.
The Villain will be very Naughty, and not like Bond very Much.
The opening scene will be at the start of the film.
    Some sequences will include Walking
    It will have Music.
It will be filmed on the Planet Earth.
The leading lady will not have a Face like a Pig.
Catering will be provided by thesecteragents Mate.
Some of the crew will buy Lottery Tickets, But won't win.
I see a problem with a porta-loo in the third week of location filming.
The end credits, will be in a nice font.
I see the retun of the Cat, well some kind of Pussy is involved.
I see a Bald actor,............... No sorry that's my reflection in the Ball.
The theme Song will have some Minor Chords In it.
The theme song will be sung By a Man, or a woman, or Both.
The film will use at least Four stunt Men.
No Animals will be Hurt in the Making of the Movie.

I grow Tired Now, It's fading. But I'm pretty sure This will all happen. Now I'm off to plant those magic Beans I swapped my mum's Cow for. :))

A bald Kevin Spacey as an arch villain = Lex Luthor from Superman Returns.

Not only that but Kevin Spacey placed the Hollywood version of Dr. Evil in Austin Powers 3. And since Dr. Evil is a parody of Blofeld isn't that kind of ridiculous? EDIT: nevermind DJ007 beat me to it, lol

Also I thought the character of Blofeld was owned, at least partially, by Kevin McClory

Absolutely! I can even enjoy the rumours...it means the gears are beginning to move B-)

None of the things mentioned by the Coca Cola Cat in the first post of this thread put me off---and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Eon try to pull a TSWLM for the 21st century---what better way to surprise a fan base who expects another grim, gadgetless entry?

    As actual Bond 23 news begins to break, let's meet back here and see how prescient the early buzz was... -{

True! And like any rumour, there might be something to bits of it. I don't think there's any harm in having some fun with this sort of thing. Canada's rich with location opportunities, to be sure...and yes, I expect gadgets and more OTT elements this time round.

All will be revealed in time---but for now, we play! :007)

I think it's wise to doubt these rumours, but I'll comment on them anyway. I think Red sky at night is a much better title than Red Shadow.
Canada and winter sports might work. The motorcycle might work too, but please - no lasers! I think it's time to introduce more gadgets in Craig's movies, but lasers in one step too far. Blofeld belonged to SPECTRE, not Qantum and Kevin Spacy has done too many villans. Not a good idea at all.

I trust Kevin Spacey to be a good enough actor to make his portrayal of a Bond Villain memorable and different from his earlier roles.

The lasers belong in an other movie type entirely if you ask me. 8-)

As for Red Sky At Night (RSAN), that just reminds me of where I grew up. There were so many greenhouses in the area that we literally had a red sky at night. It sort of felt like growing up in a bad level of Doom. Never could see any stars either... :#

I definitely prefer Red Shadow as a title... Red Sky at Night is too long, clunky, and sounds like and 80's song...

The Canada / winter sports thing sounds cool, but I have a hard time really picturing Craig's Bond driving around on a bike with lasers and an Iron Man helmet... feels way too far fetched for his version of the character.

I'm sure Spacey would make a great villain, but I'd kind of prefer to see a more unknown actor get a shot...

I would love to see a "Spy Who Loved Me" for 2012, but I think they will have to be very careful to balance those elements with the inherent grittiness and realism of the other Craig films... Overall, I'm just glad things are moving forward!
  • jeffchjeffch Posts: 163MI6 Agent
I definitely think they need to bring back the Q character in one way or another and do some gadgets, but this sounds way over the top. Lasers and an Ironman type helmet is going into DAD territory. Especially with the winter theme and the Ironman type suit the villain wore.

What about "Red Week" - the only film where Bond get's constantly shouted at by an irrational lead woman, and doesn't get any bedroom action at all... :))
