quite, AND with a cack alternative. not very sportsman like, BCW.

mick, i might be in depending on final artwork and price, but the quality of your pal gets my vote.

BCW's 'alternative' is about $1,500 and $500 more to put your face in there. I would say that Mick's will be a fair less...
  • scaramangasgoldengunscaramangasgoldengun ScotlandPosts: 1,388MI6 Agent
Of course... David .. it wont be an over the top price, just be a fair one I feel,
and it will be a more unique item I think as its commissioned just for us on this
topic mostly.... but please spread the word around any Bond fans you know
personaly who would be interested in one of these, they may not be a member
    on these forums.

here is some more shots of Mr. Fez ... work

As you can see his style and range.... is quite unique and different

Which is why I thought he would be great for somthing unique for Bond and all of us interested in this project

Fez aint a big Bond fan in any way (well who is compared to us Bond freaks :)) ) in fact one of his favorite Bond films is the 1967 Casino Roayle :)) however his best Bond is Roger Moore in Live and Let Die ..

Sportsmanlike? Huh? Posting information is sportsmanlike.

We post designer Bond and then alternative cheaper options. We post FE guns and then alternative SD guns for sale.

I'm always happy to provide information and I feel like Michael Bryan does great work. You can use the ideas presented to enhance your own project.

By the way, I think Fez does very attractive work also. Art will "out"!

yes, posting info for others is sportsman like, however saying 'why buy mick's when you can buy from my guy' (admittedly not in so many words) isn't sportsman like imo.

ok, so you might have been trying to be helpful, its just the way you did it, from where i'm sitting at least, came across as you trying to crash mick's idea and get people to dump his project and buy from your mate instead.

Was not my intention at all.

It is my fault though, I did not read the thread very carefully for content. I had just left chatting with Michael when I saw this thread. I apologize.

Michael when I saw this thread. I apologize

:s ?:) You had just left chatting with me ? are you maybe getting
me mixed up with somone else ? I have not been online all day
    since my last post ????

no worries... lets just put all other art and paintings to one side.. and
continue with the main topic in hand

I see what others mean and I appreciate there comments... I can see
where they are coming from, but its cool, I have glanced at topics myself
at times and posted comments only to look back and see ok maybe thats
not what i should have posted.. think it was about a year ago i did
    somthing like that :v :)) :))

anyway lets not worry about it :007)

back to '' Fez's Bond Poker Painting ''

BTW guys, heres somthing of a strange run in with somone tonight,

Just caught up with Mr. Fez a few weeks back after having not seen
him in years since we were both at high school together doing our
Highers in Art and Design, so after coming up with the idea of
commissioning him to do this painting, a few nights ago, Was on my
way into the Monte Carlo Rally In Glasgow tonight and I ran into
our old Art teacher, whom I havent seen in years, a very strange, Not
litteraly I didnt knock him down in the car etc :D just got chatting while
    waiting for a train :))

I told him about this project ... and another interesting thing came from it
we got talking about Bond and the art and design side of it etc

My old art teacher, who knows little about the films or their history,

He told me he was at 'Art College' in his younger Days with a certain
''Fergus Hall'' a young Scottish artist at the time ( whom we all know
designed the Torrot Cards n LALD ) He said Fergus art work was on
display at a student exhibition somwhere in London and one of the Bond
producers or somone to do with the production saw all these little paintings
which Fergus had done of little pixies and ghosts and animated witches etc,
so they commissioned him to do the artwork for the cards.... as soon as he
said the name I knew exactly who he was talking about, all he said was ''its
was an early 70s Bond film I think''

Certainly is a very small world.. now I can say my old art teacher studied
with The guy who designed the Tarrot cards in LALD :))

is this the list so far guys yea ????

Substitue poker for chemin de fer - for some annoying reason they changed the game for Casino Royale.

chemin de fer ....... I like your style Mr. Hazzard :) -{ :007)

What you think everyone .... should we go with that idea.. I think it would
stay true to classic Bond style and history

is the final design confirmed yet then??

will it be like the image in Mr Greenes post #17 ??
  • scaramangasgoldengunscaramangasgoldengun ScotlandPosts: 1,388MI6 Agent
No the final design is not SET as of yet I hope to speak to Fez this week

what I think would be the best Idea.. would be for him to come up with a
few alternative designs and set ups, just some quick sketches and we can
choose what one we would like to see developed into a painting,

This will be an original painting and not a computer gen image, transformed
into a painting style print with some Computer program trickery

It wont be a trace of any film image etc

I will up date you all guys this coming week if all goes to plan :)

I play to give him a disc with lots of images for inspiration to create this idea
of the James Bond poker painting

anyone have any images.. they would like me to pass on, please post a link
or an image on here before Thursday

so current Status .......... its a GO! on the Poker Painting :)

Ok Guys.... had a Meeting with Fez today ...

Gave him a USB key with lots of Images of all the Bonds and Fleming
different facial views and very detailed close ups,

His thoughts and ideas for this is in my mind 'fantastic'

he feels it should be a very Dark, Fleming style of painting, not too much
going on in the background etc, more about whos at the table playing

The Idea is a dark setting, with maybe an over head light, lighting up the game

Ian Fleming will be the dealer, maybe have him with his back to us, however
dealing a card to a Bond on his left or right so we can see his face,

going to have one or a few of the Bonds Smoking... its going to look very very
    classy / vintage Bond....

Fez himself did draw attention to the fact that Roger Moore being his best Bond,
whom he enjoyed the most, he said the early Connery films are the best Bonds....
so I think hes got a FRWL style of grit in mind when creating it ..... he did a quick
sketch in his note book; of the set up and I feel hes going in a great direction

I will keep you up to date on here... with sketches and progress of the painting
    whenever I am updated

We have agreed on a classy / vintage cool and simple but danger look...

we chatted about Bond refferences on the table like maybe Connery sporting a knife
shoe in the darkness under the table, or Roger Moore maybe having parts of the
Golden Gun beside his cards / chips etc ... but the idea was scrapped the more we
thought about it .... simple / dark, crisp and classy

any thoughts on the LTD number of prints... because once Its done, thats it there will
be no more..... and I will stick to that, I hate it when a LTD edition of anything comes out,
and once sold out ... slightly altered and released again as another LTD run... I want this
painting to be a very exclusive item within The Collecting Community :007)

hope you are happy with the progress so far

    thanks guys ............... Michael

Ok Guys... just as long as everyone knows its in progress...
I wouldn't want anyone loosing interest.. I will keep you all up
to date on this as best as I can.

Please Know... Fez, is a fairly busy guy, with work, and his house,
and other art commissions etc etc

But he has quoted me, maybe June / July...... Max

hopefully we will have the Painting finished before that large scale
Aston Martin DB5 Model is complete :#

what do you guys think about Fez signing each Ltd Edition print to
each of you individually, to your name with its ltd ed number small
    at the bottom,

or just a signature with the number of the print 1 of xxxxx / 2 of xxxx etc
  • The Bond ExperienceThe Bond Experience Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
Will he have a pencil sketch for us to approve before he puts paint to canvas? Also, I like the idea of a signature but not addressed to me personally...too autography...just my opinion.
