A fair number of them are stored in my Mum's spare room in the UK, MUCH to her disgust!!!
My favorite Autoart Esprit (which I managed to get hold of a few of) remains the very short initial run of the white MKII with the correct number plate and the alarm sticker, these were never authorised by EON so weren't branded as part of the Bond branded range and later releases had no alarm sticker and the number plate changed (which of course I also have, DOH!)
..... Sounds interesting, Justin.
Do you have pics?
This is a stock photo of the 2nd version, note the blue packaging; I've failed to find one of the "Bond" version and mine are in storage, apart from the detailing mentioned above it's exactly the same model but the packaging is Green.
hum, I have the one in the green/black packaging, but my model does not have a burglar protected sticker and it does not have any number plates.
I am pretty sure, that I have purchased them at a very early stage.
I do remember, that at one time, someone offered a 1:43 model of the white Turbo with the sticker and correct plates - I am pretty sure, that it was a modded version.
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
I have the Burglar protected sticker on my 1:1 scale model
This left one will be coming off as the sticker was only on right quarterlight. Beautiful red interior only difference on mine.
Was considering doing a body swap with the Essex version to have my exact car in 1/18. There are still enough of these regularly coming up on ebay.
I am new to diecast collection, however, I have been navigating enough to gain the following knowledge. I recently connected to a seller in Quebec who explained the following:
AutoArt released three models for DB5 as follows:
Version 1: Model #70020A - Aston Martin DB5 without side mirrors (base model)
Version 2: Model #70020B - Aston Martin DB5 with side mirrors (base model)
Version 3: Model #70021 - Aston Martin DB5 with gadgets & roof panel
When AutoArt shipped out Version 3: Model #70021, the first shipment went out with missing roof. The seller explained that he received the shipment without roof. He then explained that he contacted AutoArt and many other sellers did and in their subsequent shipments, it included roof. AutoArt sent additional roofs to all who contacted them for missing roof.
I believe all you are trying to explain in your post is the registration number plates that came along with the shipments. These are not 4 versions because there were only 3 versions manufactured.
And there are five versions of the DB5 - three of the 70020 non-gadget car (without mirrors and GoldenEye plate BMT 214A, with mirrors and 214A, and later with correct 216A) and two of the 70021 with gadgets (without and later with roof panel). The 70020 with the 216A plate also includes the radar screen which I think the earlier versions do not have.
lol ok, i stand corrected and seemingly don't have all the db5 models... ... this annoys me
as I understood it, (and these are the ones i have)...the DB5's were as follows:
1) Registration BMT214A and no modifications or wing mirrors
2) Registration BMT216A and wing mirrors but no other "gadgets"
3) Registration BMT216A with mirrors and all "gadgets" but no roof panel
4) Registration BMT216A with mirrors, gadgets and roof panel (the most desirable model in the series)
