I think a daytime meeting would be preferable unless it'd be more convenient for everyone to get dinner together.

Alas, SF's Japantown has shrunk to 2 shopping centers last time I was there as the neighborhood becomes more gentrified. Palo Alto has some (non-Bond themed) coffee shops around University Ave. that are good meeting spots. Mike Z, do you know of any good restaurants/coffee shops around Pier 39 or City Hall?

Let me do a little leg work. The Civic Center/City Hall area is kind of a ghost town during weekend days (and can be dicey), I'll look at what's open there on Saturday. On the warf, I like Cioppino's (www.cioppinosf.com). It get's crowded with tourists during the day but the prices aren't bad and they have a decent bar.

How about this, I'll come up with options near the Caltrain station, Civic Center/Market St., and Fisherman's Warf.

Thanks for looking into this, Mike Z - I'll be keeping an eye out for places around Union Square, too, as I'm attending a conference there later this month. I went to Cioppino's once and definitely see why you like it :D

if you're near Union Square, check out the Burritt Room, it's the bar/lounge in the Crescent Hotel (http://www.yelp.com/biz/burritt-room-san-francisco). The place has fantastic cocktails, not touristy at all, and sophisticated enough for us Bond fan types ;)

Never met any ajb members, but I had quite a few on msn at one point. No-one really uses msn anymore though

I remember once, years back, when an ajb member asked me out on a date... I didn't bother of course, because it was strange considering we'd never even met/seen each other

It just occurred to me that it's getting close to the time we'd talked about planning a meet up. Shall we plan something for San Francisco bay area fans??

This Saturday still works for me - how decisive are we about finding a location in SF? :P

I can do Saturday afternoon/evening, say after four pm... perfect time for a martini!

I'm leaning toward the Burritt Room, the place I recommended to Tracy earlier in the thread (http://www.yelp.com/biz/burritt-room-san-francisco). it's a little more of a hike from the CalTrain station but it's an easy walk from BART and right off Union Square so you can make the meet up part of a shopping trip or something.

I'm also open to meeting other times and places... just not this Saturday

If this does happen in the evening, you'll have to count me out. I have dinner plans that night. I post on another message board for a hobby I enjoy. I'm meeting a few members from that forum in the evening. I've met them before, but they're always good company.

I just realized that my aunt and uncle are dropping by for dinner tomorrow, too - could we reschedule for next Saturday/Sunday perhaps at the Burritt Room?

As of right now I'm off next Saturday. Saw a mistake on next weeks schedule that I have to ask the boss about. As soon as I talk to him and correct the mistake, I'll post here. Not sure where the Burritt room is, but will research it. I'll post here tomorrow night or Sunday morning.

Also notice the Burritt room is having a One Year anniversary party on June 4th. Looks like it starts at 7pm. Don't see a cover charge but a couple of bands will be playing starting at 9pm. Just thought I'd throw it out there:

Haven't heard anything about the schedule so it looks like I still have Saturday off. I'll know on Monday for sure whenn I go back to work. Are we still looking at the Burritt Room?

Well, when I went back to work today I still had Saturday off. After an hour of being there another employee came in with a Worker Comp form from a on the job injury sustained the day before. That changed the schedule. I now have to work Saturday and will be unable to attend the meeting. Maybe some other time. Have fun!

Sorry, I've been out of the loop, just started a new (busier) job.

I can do Saturday if people are down for it, the later show will be a good one too, especially if you are a 60s pop culture enthusiast.

My Friday evening/Saturday schedules are pretty open too, barring the 17th and 18th when my scooter club is putting on a big event in the city.

Alas, I'm afraid I can't make this Saturday, either, as I've just started a new job, too. What about next weekend?Sorry to inconvenience you, Mike Z! How does Sat. Afternoon sound?

Checked my schedule. I'm off on Saturday. So, is everybody still good for this? Where are we going to meet and what time?

Apologies for the last minute notice - finally have my car fixed and will be meeting some friends in SF earlier in the day. Would you two still be available tomorrow afternoon for coffee arou nd Union Square, say around 3? There's a place called Cafe Encore by Post and Mason, though I'm open to any suggestions you have. If another weekend works better, I understand.

I'll have to pass. Next Saturday I'm off at 4pm. Not sure if it works for your or Mike. I work in Redwood City, so any meeting away from there would take me some time to get to. Any suggestions? Does a Saturday evening work for you two?

I can slip away from the event I'm working on next Saturday for a bit if you guys want to meet in the city (afternoon or evening is good). After that my weekends are pretty open and I could meet down the peninsula as well.
