I've had a look at these many times as I think they pull the look off. They are not as budget conscious as the Banana Republic version, but they are good looking. I saw them in-store and thought they seemed pretty good, if just a wee bit overpriced.
EDIT: Another thing to note is that the J. Crew are made of denim, so they feel like a jean. BR I believe is a chino that is cut like a jean.
Will be returning the Mushroom, as they are too dark, and have a greyish tint to them that doesn't look great. Not very khaki colored, I think the Sand in Shrink-to-Fit would be ideal. EDIT: I take that back - too light.
The Grit, however, I love. Will post a few pics when I get a chance. Straight cut down the leg, but I like that. Great color.
Good news for StaPrest hunters JZ. One out of two aint bad. Haven't owned a pair of button flys in forever. Wanna see how that Grit color looks in pics. How's the fit? True to size?

Here are the grit. I love these. They are straight. Note that they hug around the quad a little, I might size up to 33x30 (preferably a 33x29, but that is hard to find)

So I was in Sirmione, Italy today, and noticed an Asian photographer wearing the entire Mathis villa ensemble. I had parked right next to his Range Rover, and he was leaving.
Verified that he was not wearing TF sunglasses, or Church Ryder IIIs, but he definitely had the TF cardigan, and instead of Sta-Prest pants, he was wearing these:
