Will you watch other Craig movies before Bond 23? Or will this ruin your perception/image of him as Bond? :007)
Do you only see him as Bond when he plays other roles or is it the other way round?
Feel free to discuss...

No, having seen the Cowboys and Alien trailer, I think the movie looks lame. What an actor does outside Bond does not change how I think of him as Bond. They are actors, so I expect them to take on a variety of roles.

So you wouldent think once about Indiana Jones or James Bond while watching Cowboys and Aliens? ;)

I seem to be going against the tide of opinions here ( I always try to go against the herd ) so here goes.
After watching the trailer Cowboys v Aliens looks terrible, something thrown together for an audiance of nine year old boys ( If only they could of shoe horned in a dinousar or two as well :)) ) with H Ford as the villain I might be way of the mark But I think this is going to be one of the biggest flops this year.
So far alot of the huge movies haven't done the business expected, mabey the credit crunch is begining to bite.
I still haven't forgiven Lucas and Speilberg for Indy4 :#

I am planing on watching Cowboys & Aliens, and possibly The Adventures of Tin Tin when it opens in the fall.

Since watching Casino Royale Craig has become a favorite actor of mine, and I look forward to viewing more of his work. Dream House I might see if my time and money permits me to do so.* Also I would at some point to view some of his earlier films as well. Apart from Tomb Raider and the first act of Defiance I have not seen much of his work.

Watched the trailer for Cowboys & Aliens and am not sure....one thing that did strike me like a rock in the head is how dumb DC looks in that hat ! he looks like the 8th Dwarf in a Snow White remake (shorty perhaps) It never ceases to amaze me how he can look really really good and truly 'nail it', and then on occasion...

I can only hope they keep him out of hats for 23 and finally do something about the ears. I am not suggesting that the guy has permanent surgery to play Bond, but surely something could be done to stop them sticking out and making him look goofy.

Cowboys & Aliens looks like a shameless mash up but it could be very entertaining.

Of course Daniel Craig's other roles won't really effect my perception of him as Bond because he's just an actor doing something different, as you would expect.

I agree, but I thought they had done something, had them pinned back or something. Not permanently I guess. He's had work on his chin (it jutted out in CR) and his hair (no longer receding) and that's all fair enough (Clark Gable had loads of work done too) but yeah, very changeable looks.

Daniel Craig is the first bond actor (Sorry Mr Brosnan!) who had me thinking "Oh my God who IS this guy? I want to see his other work!" During Casino Royale. I love seeing actors play very different characters, showing their range in the craft, and different physicallity depending on the role. I have seen all the other Bond actors (except Mr Lazenby) in at least two other films that have no connection to Bond each, and any film or tv series that mentions Dame Judi or the lovely and compelling Samantha Bond deserves a squint too.

I am looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens, and I beleive Mr Craig has a voiceover part in Tintin as well.

As a side note I wish Gemma Arterton would do more comedy, and I am thrilled Eva Green is in Camelot!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I'll see "Cowboys and Aliens". The summer films (at least the US made ones) have been nothing to write home about. Maybe "Cowboys and Aliens" which has some folks with a good track record behind it might turn out to be decent escapist fair. Far and away the best film I have seen in a theater this summer season has been the Japanese samurai film "13 Assassins". "13 Assassins" is about as good an action/adventure film as I have seen in a long time. I highly recommend it. I actually believe it is coming out on DVD/Blu-Ray in the States this Tuesday....and I will actually buy a copy.

You should definatly check out 'Layer Cake' then.... a great scene of him being very Bondish with a gun.... you won't miss it, and for me, this was the film that really made me realise what a great actor he is.

'Defiance' is good too - but I'm wating to see 'Dream House'.... I don't quite know why it's taking so long to get to the cinema, but 'cowboys and aliens' just doesn't look good.... and as I am a real fan girl of Craig.... that is saying something.

You should also check out his voice over in 'Renaissance' - a black and white (and I mean, black and white....) cartoon - the first of it's style....

Plus, 'Enduring Love' was good too.... but that is much more of a art flick, than action thriller....

    Whatever you watch, enjoy -{

Totally agree about layer cake...l was gutted when DC was chosen for bond -then a good friend bought me layer cake DVD and challenged me to hate the choice after I'd seen it....

I've been a DC fan ever since and he has proved a great choice....

If u see only one DC film this is it.....

And it has the scrumptious near naked sienna miller in it.... B-)

It would seem Craig is a Fan of Sir Roger's Bond,
    From Entertainment Weekly

This Week's Cover: When Bond Met Indy

How do you interview tough guys like Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig? Carefully, very carefully. It also helps if you bring their Cowboys & Aliens director Jon Favreau in on the conversation. Last week, the three men sat down with EW at a ranch in Montana to discuss their upcoming genre-mashing sci-fi-western about extraterrestrials invading New Mexico in the 1870s. “A journey of redemption,” Craig calls the film, which is a lot more serious than its title suggests (it was produced by an all-star team of heavyweights, including Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer).

Beyond space invaders, the three amigos talk about everything from wearing chaps, to getting older, to their famous franchises. Ford describes how Tom Selleck almost got cast as Indiana Jones, and later reveals, “I thought Han Solo should have died at the end of the last Star Wars movie. Just because it seemed right for that character.” Craig, for his part, talks about former 007s (“I never liked Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan much,” he muttered, almost under his breath) and his role in the upcoming Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He also expresses feelings about registering for wedding gifts. (Hint: he’s not a fan).

sad He's not a fan of Sir Sean or Pierce, After all the nice things they've said about him. :v

I'd only seen Layer Cake prior to CR...and in point of fact have only seen the Truman Capote film where Craig plays one of the killers...and of course Defiance, which I thought was excellent and featured an excellent Craig performance, and will watch Cowboys and Aliens because my sons want to see it... but I'm ambivalent. Frankly, I'd have preferred to see Craigger and Ford in a conventional, straight-up old-fashioned western. Guess I'm a bit of a purist that way. And I'll watch whatever else he does from here on out, because I enjoy watching him work.

I'm the opposite, in fact - When I watch CR or QOS I still find it difficult to accept Craig as Bond. This is not to say he is a bad actor. I just can't wait to see the next Bond after Craig.

    Craig's Mea Culpa

Interestingly, says if he messes up they can fire him...

So Jag and Superdaddy, why don't you play Tea Party Republican hi-jinks and spend the next shoot distracting him - then you'll have your new Bond! :D

Strange how now we're getting some good stories appearing, I can't remember on which forum I read that Mark Forster gave an interview claiming that QOS didn't turn out the way he'd wanted, after Martin Cambell said it was terrible and now Craig admitting it was "COBBLED TOGETHER" :D , Seems like alot of people are now trying to put a little distance between themselves and QOS. :))
Still you never know mabey the Producers will of taken on board some of the comments made by some and try and make a half decent Bond 23. Like when we got LALD, which I thought was Good followed by TMWTGG, which wasn't. But leading to TSWLM which was a huge hit. :007)

Thanks Nap, that is one of the best interviews with Craig I have read for a while.

In fact, the article from The Telegraph was superb, and to quote the whole paragraph (I think it deserves it) is:

"After a period of not doing it, Craig will soon be doing it again – a prospect he’s genuinely excited by: “The hiatus may prove to be a good thing, because I’m itching to have another crack at it, particularly after Quantum of Solace. We had to cobble that one together because it was made in the midst of the writers’ strike, and it had an effect on the finished product, no doubt.

“With this one, the right things are in place – Sam’s on board and we have the bones of a really good script.”

Will he be doing more after that? “I think so,” he says, somewhat guardedly. He doesn’t know? “I take it one job at a time. Put it this way, if we mess it up, I won’t be asked to do another. The contract goes both ways. I can walk away from it or they can sack me.”

This is all looking good. The fact I really enjoyed QoS is interesting - obviously it had some issues.... and we have all discussed the plot holes with the script - which has, let's face it caused some GREAT discussions, AND theories.... however, I really feel Bond 23 will be a much smoother ride.... and those are always good :D :v

Hang on a min did he not say prior to the start of filming QOS exactly the same and and because CR was so great[was it] they had to raise the bar for the next one[qos] ie great script great to have Marc on board because he understands Bond blah blah and now oh it was cobbled together because of the writers strike.
Always someone elses fault hey Dan, such a charmer.
