Does anyone know if Baracuta ever made a G9 without the tartan lining?

Never seen one without it Wilde, which is a shame.

I think a chap on here had one altered, looked quite good.

    I wouldn't mind seeing that.

Some of these are straying out of the budget area IMO. Once you get near the 100 area just save for a Logan or Magnoli.

So who has the Logan one??? The pics are not very good and hard to see jacket properly however heard its ace

Yeah at the moment just Y3 but believe he has the other in progress since he has had the TF jacket in hand

Eddie Bauer currently has 20% off with "spring12" promo code.

Nothing to see here. Move along...

Saw this jacket in Target from far away on the rack, and got all excited. Until I got closer and realized it wasn't what I was hoping for. :# It's that suede type windbreaker with a ribbed waist band. It is available in a Navy color and has the Harrington look though. Shown in the link in the Tan color.

Jcrew has a pretty decent one in their "Factory" section. It's faded black, but some may prefer.

I was really liking the look of that J Crew, especially the (apparent) weight of the fabric. But then I noticed it had raglan sleeves, which dials it back a bit for me. Still, really good find!

That J Crew is decent. As mentioned the sleeves are off, but a bigger problem for me would be the plaid lining.

Here's the Ben Sherman. The sleeves and waist are different but I like it. Not sure how I feel about the plaid though.

The tartan lining is part of what makes the Harrington jacket. Craig's Tom Ford jacket had it, as did McQueen's Baracuda.

That said, I still like Magnoli's better.

If you watch the film where the jacket is undone - the phone call to Leiter, the meeting in the bar - you can see what Welshboy and the rest of us have known for some time.

The shot you have of the tartan lining is a shopped version someone was trying to pass off a few years ago to try to "prove" the jacket was a Barracuta, rather than accepting that, sadly, it was the much more expensive Tom Ford...

Agreed. I have seen that Tartan photo many times and never even considered that it may be real. It was just loud and not what I remembered from first seeing the photos and film.

I thought that looked weird and like something I've never seen before.

Has anyone here seen this? The collar appears to have snaps instead of buttons, which may be a deal breaker for some of you.

Definitely a deal-breaker, especially with that elastic waistband.

Guess I'll be saving for the Magnoli! I don't think the Logan jacket is ever coming out.

Still, it is a budget alternative... nice find!
  • drum007drum007 New York, NYPosts: 684MI6 Agent
The difficult thing about these budget alternatives is that, if you get a bad one, they look like bad "Members Only" jackets from the 1980's!!! :))
  • 7700777007 Posts: 502MI6 Agent
Yep. That's why I can't emphasize enough that there shouldn't be any elastic, and the material be right as well.

I picked up a jacket that I think is really similar to the TF Harrington at the J Crew outlet in Orlando. I can't find it on their website but it's really rather close!

Pics or it's a safari shirt.

It's a dark blue/grey with button tab adjusters at the back on the waist band. Button tab on the sleeves too. It's got the button collar as well. It was on sale at $58 so only around £40. As I'm still on holiday, I can't upload photos at the moment but I can as soon as I get back.
