No contest. Sean Connery in From Russia With Love. However the first four Connery's in order are the best Bonds in my opinion because the character evolved and got more nuanced over time. That's not to say that Craig is a slouch or that Lazenby didn't do it justice. It's just that Connery was the perfect actor for the role at that time. If not for him, I don't think we'd be talking about any of the other actors today. Think about it, the wrong actor in the begining would have sunk the franchise. Without Connery there would be no one else to talk about. Sorry fellas, but it is what it is.

So, what sharp little eyes you've got...wait till you get to my teeth.
"People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." Richard Grenier after George Orwell, Washington Times 1993.
For Your Eyes Only. Hands down. Excellent Bond film, back to basics, Ian Fleming like, stunning locales in Europe with a nice cold-war entry. Roger Moore played a more serious role in his fifth outing here. Wonderful score by Bill Conti and just a terrific installment. Thank you John Glen, who's first effort of directing was his best.
Honourable mentions are From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, A View To A Kill, The Living Daylights, Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace.
Favorite Bond actor is Timothy Dalton strictly because of The Living Daylights. Excellent film and performance, followed Bond from the books.
Sean Connery and Dr No.
Commenting on DR NO from the James Bond dvds is a little like being asked to review 'Genesis" or "The Gospel According to Matthew." It IS what it is! Connery WAS Bond from the instant he appeared on screen and remember Ian Fleming, his creator was still alive at this stage. (Fleming in fact saw the first three Bonds but died before the release of Goldfinger)
