Can't understand why they have let a successful paper go, along with a great many hard-working innocent staff reliant on their jobs. Surely the buck should have stopped with a few at the top, Brooke in particular. Unless of course she has something on Murdoch himself...

a couple of months ago they made a statement of the effect that the sun would be going to a seven day printing, so it would of been closing anyway.

Here's newly notorious phone hacker and ex-NoW journalist Paul McMullen talking about his trade:

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/video/2011/07/08/3265296.htm

Almost rustling up a bit of charisma, judiciously showing contrition for the victims' phone hacking - more than of late anyhow, dumping on Brooks and Coulson, and suddenly we seem to know how it came to be that Henri Paul, Di's chauffer, mysteriously had loads of dosh in his account when the car crashed - it wasn't MI6, most probably was NoW journos offloading thousands of pounds to get Di's whereabouts every day of the week.

As an Old synic and general Grump. I find it amazing to think that in only a few years we've learnt.

Politicans are corrupt, they have their noses shoved in the trough, milking the country for all they can get.

The media is Corrupt, using illegal means to get information ( not on criminals but innocent members of Victims Families )

The Police are corrupt, too close to the politicans, Media etc.

The churches are Corrupt, just Look at all the child sex abues cases and the cover up.

As the Song Says "No More Heros, Anymore " :#

We really are living in an Asylum and the Inmates are Running it.

Mabey it's about Time we dropped the Great from Britain, and used " open for Sale " instead.

Completely agree with you, however, to be truly cynical you should realise that nothing has really changed. Ask yourself; how is today's culture that much different from Ancient Rome, from Constantinople or beyond? Think of any civilisation and there will always be those at the top brushing shoulders with each other, no-body else matters to them, they are like farmers, we are the cattle. If you're in the club, life is good and you'll do anything to protect those interests.

You need to delve deeply in to the fundamentals of human nature to understand that the only rule that is really important in life is what a person can do and what they can't. Everything we do as humans is geared to enhance our own sense of gratification.

The problem is, injustice and inequality isn't supposed to be tolerated in this fantasy civilisation which has been designed for us. We're brought up to be kept in line and to think that our society is at the peak of it's evolution. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Fear, be it through religion, punishment or social exclusion has controlled us for millennia. We're entering a new age now, the technological revolution. Those at the top do not want us collaborating, learning, understanding or growing. With knowledge comes power and that's bloody frightening to the system makers. Forget Murdoch and look at the bigger picture.

I could go on forever, but I've probably already bored half of you to death and so will shut up. I think to sum it up, I don't think life is terrible, certainly not mine, but for a great many people, it could be a whole lot better.

One vague thing that has occurred to me; one reason for keeping shtum on the issue of phone hacking, whether you're a hack or a police officer, is simply that it is a great way to capture criminals, who often simply haven't been aware of it until now. I think that Ian Huntley may have been caught this way, certainly it involved a mobile.

I have no problem with the Police or security srevices using any means to get Information on criminals or terrorists, after all they can trace a Bombers movements from how he used his phone, and I think One Serb or Bosnian leader was Killed by the CIA tracking his Mobile by satellite. He was in hiding and Took a chance to make one call, That's all they Needed.
It's the old story "Abuse of Power" None of our Political, Media, or Police come out looking good from this. A lot of Heads SHOULD roll, But none will. The same people will still be in their jobs next year, as we now live in a blameless society.
The Mugger who smashes an OAP'S head in, Is a victim as much as the Old lady. As he had a Deprived childhood ( who hasn't, I'm not exactly Royalty Myself ) ,so long as the Right people say SORRY thats Good enough.
I'm going to stop now as I'm turning in to "ANGRY of Tumbridgewells " :))

Yeah yeah I know, just saying that if many years ago the ability to hack phones had been massively flagged up, fewer paedos would have been caught, fewer terrorists too. They would have been more guarded.

Worth noting that GCHQ has American led technology which flags key words over frequencies. ie if you say the word gun, bomb, kill, explosives etc the communication is recoded and flagged up with numbers, locations etc to find patterns and anomolies. This works by recording all conversations on mobile, landline or shortwave and instantly deleting those unflagged (supposedly!).
I regularly walked the dog on the cliffs between Porthtowan and Portreath in Cornwall where you can see one of these intercepter domes at RAF Portreath - an airfield that no longer flies but has a lot of personnel activity. Worth noting the next time you jest with a friend about robbing a bank to pay the electric bill or shooting that annoying work collegue in the face...

Ms. Brooke's face has been showing up more and more on American television. All I can say is it's horrible to see a member of the Weasley family join the forces of evil!
