So, if you had a long weekend in New Orleans from tomorrow , where would you visit?
Are there any particular Bond film locations? Bondian sights and sounds around? ?:)
Got zero response in the Film section, but somehow I have greater faith in here.
I'm staying in the Royal Orleans which is supposed to have been used in LALD?
Cheers.

But as before...the bible is martijn mulders brilliant "on the tracks of 007" book ...
Lakefront airport off Robert e lee blvd is the site of the bleeker flying school - the hangers and office are still there ( Taylor energy building and 'T-hangar 'F')
French quarter is where much of the opening scenes eg the funeral scene where Hamilton is stabbed.
Corner of dumaine st and chartre st - note the lamppost
The ex-fillet of soul is on chartre st, Next to a laundry
Madison st is off chartre st where bond/leiter park their car.
Outside new Orleans the boat chase sequences were shot.
Not sure if the levees are back to normal after katrinana and if you are planning to visit them too let me know or check martijns book.
The jump scene was shot off route 39 at a dike called harlem lane.
Good luck hunting!
1. What is now Louis Armstrong International Airport, where Bond with Solitaire arrives in New Orleans. Reportedly you need a screen shot to recognize anything. They are seen leaving the airport departure hall.
2. Lakefront Airport on Robert E. Lee Blvd. Used for the Bleeker Flying School scenes. The hanger Bond runs towards when he escapes is not referenced as the Exxon Mobil Hanger. The T-Hanger "F" was used for the chase scene with Mrs. Bell.
3. Next to the airport is South Shore Harbor where Bond slowly motors up to the waiting law enforcement men after the boat chase. The boathouse in the back still exists but there are substantial modifications to the rest of the property.
4. In the French Quarter the location where MI6 Agent Hamilton dies is on the corner of Dumaine and Chartres Streets. If you lean against the lamp post and look in the direction Hamilton was you will see the Fillet of Soul next to the laundry. If you walk by the FoS you will see where Bond and Leiter parked on Madison Street. The Cafe du Monde is near this location.
5. On I-10 eastbound just outside NOLA there is a bridge heading toward Slidell. Just before the bridge is an exit, Highway 11, take it and cross the lake. On the north shore is where the pursuing police cars drove and immediately to your left is an old bridge where the water roadblock was established.
6. What was then the Baldwin Estate is in Slidell, where the boat winds up in the swimming pool. This is a private home and hard to fine it was the Treadway Estate back when the film was made. No specific location info was given so you'll need to investigate locally.
7. Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Reserve on Hwy 11 off of I-10 in the direction away from Sidell is where the boat chase scenes were filmed, but the environment has reportedly changed much since then.
8. There are some filming sites near the town of Phoenix but this is about 30 miles from NOLA. If you're interested let me know and I'll give you more info.
Note: This information was compiled about five months before hurricane Katrina hit NOLA so the on the ground situation may have changed since On the Tracks of 007 information was collected.
If you do make it to any of these sites, and have time, photos would be greatly appreciated. Hope you have a great time.
Reflections in a double bourbon...
Did a walking tour of the Garden District yesterday which was wonderful.
Dinner at Ralphs on the Park was outstanding. Up there with having dined on the Royal yacht Britannia one time.
A walking tour of the French Quarter commences today. I will make sure and keep my eyes open.
Youre welcome expatjb, and thx to pyrat for taking the trouble to copy out all the details my reply only summarized....my typing ( and wife's patience!) wouldnt allow!
Strongly suggest anyone thinking of going bond hunting get a copy of the said bible before embarking... It's well worth it....
And on amazon!
Is the road block bridge still there? When looking on Google maps I see a bridge but its not old and not immediately after the lake. It appears to be .1 or .2 miles down the road.
