Should Roger Moore have called it quits after FYEO?

Roger Moore was thought to be done after FYEO, but came back for OP and later AVTAK. Some Bond fans feel he was too old to play the part in those two films. I personally love Roger, but I'm afraid I side with those views. It got to the point where Bond would hit on women and it would look very creepy. What are your thoughts on the topic?

That said, a 30-something Bond in those films could have brought Bond into the Raiders age group and made him seem viable again. And he could have done Dalton's films too. A Mel Gibson type for instance. Many say bring Dalton forward but I never got on with him and would have liked a young, romantic lead for those two movies, in the Harrison Ford mold.
Moore's Lothario tendencies, well, they seemed just another example of his superhero abilities and so not that creepy.

In his book, he mentions having had a facelift prior to shooting AVTAK and that did not go well imho.
If Octopussy did not have some over-silly John Glen jokes, the film would be far better accepted by me. Has nothing to do with Sir Roger's age.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
I think if he'd left after Moonraker He'd get alot more respect ( as Roger Dangerfield would say )
But I still enjoyed Eyes Only and Octopussy. And I also Enjoyed AVTAK,( One of the few who'll admitt it )
Although He was looking far too old At that Point.
Imho if Sir Rog had played his Bond like that and looking like he did in LALD I think he would probaly been the best Bond of all time.
Agreed it would have been a great improvement, but would still have left us with his poor physicality, he just never moved well. Say what you like about 'golden-boy' he at least moves well and is convincing physically which Roger just never was.
I for one was always happy with sir Roger's movements )
Much as I love T Dalton as Bond, I alway thought He was the Most awkward looking in anything Physcial :v
Still we all see what we want to in our Favourite actors. -{

As to the fight in Haiti how come it took a while to sort out a geologist and yet later on he takes out 4 trained agents in a lift with his hands tied behind his back in 2seconds flat.
Also can someone answer me this as well please, in CR Bond says I need him alive Carter, chases the bomber all over the place and shoots him dead why not do that or let Carter do it and get his bag and phone to start with then at least he would not have been caught on film.
...and I have just started to like you, TP.... 8-)

Aw, Shucks Bondtoys. ;% ,is there no chance for us, can't we get over this.
"No love hath any man that he accept the views of other Bond fans ! )
He didn't fight a geologist, he fought a professional assasin. The geologists was already dead in Greene's dock - drowned, remember? The assasin was posing as a geologist to lure in the girl and kill her. (Just another example of how convoluted this film really is!) Still, the fight in the room was rubbish, and he dealt with the agents in the lift too quickly as well. Some would have needed a bit more pummeling to be knocked out like that.

But I always use this example, David Niven was the perfect English gentleman, On screen he was polite, Witty and charming. He wouldn't give the impresion of being a Hard Man. But just read a little of his experiences of ww2, when he was in a crack commando unit, and you'll soon see he was one tough Cookie.
I'm not here to try and change anyone's mind and take on board all they everyone has said, I agree He was getting on a bit and probably should have called it a day after FYEO. -{
However my opinion has not altered of 'Octopussy' and 'A View To A kill', both of which i consider to be very poor entries in the series, the latter film is probably the weakest of all the 0fficial 007 Films, and Roger Moore certainly looks well past his sell by date.
Is it ? Darn it, I always liked that fight
As for the agents..?...well, they weren't expecting a fight...and it is only a film )
If we think of these things as "only a film" we might as well say the whole forum is a waste of time... Perhaps it is.
It doesn't matter if they were expecting a fight or not, kicking someone in the face isn't always enough to knock them out first time. I don't make a habbit of it, but I've played a great deal of rugby that has gone sour, and seen quite a bit in the army. I just thought it looked a bit quick. But it is just a film, and a rather bollocks one at that.

And Sam Neill.
Maybe it is.
That happens in most films doesn't it ?
I just see QOS as a platform game, with Craig as a superhero Bond, and the lift scene is yet another example.
I'll leave it alone now, because as usual this has nothing to do with the thread! 8-)

Is ajb007 a waste of time?, No. I think it's interesting to read the views of others to see Just how WRONG everybodyelse is, Only I have the True View on Everthing Bond.
Only I and I alone, Know What the producers, writers,editors, well everyone really as I said should be doing. ) I'm willing
to offer my services, as MY views are the Only ones that Matter! But I think by now Most members Know That.
You right, it doesn't....sometimes it's nice to go with the flow though...it can be amazing just where you end up ! )
As long as we are all adult about it, it's fine by me...everyone has their own opinion...and thats fine -{
Probably....but that is why your are in the mental institution in the first place -{
