Week one of the re-build complete....tough at first, but Monday burned 850 cals in 2hrs using viper and 5miles on bike ; weds 1400 in 2.5hrs on kangoo jumps (bouncy shoes - simply the best cardio for core and abs - you feel a prat if ur self conscious - I'm not - but since I started in the gym, several have followed. It's no harder than ski-boots but 2 hours is tough on the thighs. Broke my record for jumping jacks - 7 mins... ; tonight burned only 1100 cals in 2hrs boxing... Heavy bag and shadow boxing...800 kicks and about 30 mins boxing. My favourite workout....too easy to paint a face on the bag..

Hmmm. Not sure about my situation. I have been doing some stretching exercises with modest dumbells and it has made me look leaner, but when I weighed myself at Boots, I hadn't lost anything at all:
Weight: 12 st 12lb (81.7kg)
Height: 5' 8.9in (1.75m)
BMI 26.7. (More than 25 is overweight)
So far so bad. But:
Body Fat percentage is 19.1%, when 17.5% is excellent and 23.6% is good.
The moral being, wow NP haven't you done well, it's all muscle but tbh I'm not sure about that. I really would rather lose a bit of weight and be down to 12st. The problem with the whole muscle thing is you just can't be sure of your progress.
Yup if building muscle is included then the scales aint going to be too kind. Best bet is to judge using the mirror or getting some fat measuring tools.
@Ke02eww - sounds like you've made a cracking start. Pad work & skipping is proper 'balls to the wall' training & often overlooked as to it's effectiveness. I'm fairly sure that I read that 15 mins skipping is equivalent to a 60 min high pace run. Keep us posted, but I'd also say that you shouldn't get overly focused upon calories lost during your training. Keep it varied & where possible I'd have resistance work done before cardio. Look forward to reading your progress!
@NP - BMI is a very misleading index IMO. I have colleagues that I train with who are classed as obese, yet are finalists in National level bodybuilding competitions! The old saying is base your progress on the mirror rather than the scales & as such I've never paid too much attention to BMI. Keep up the weights work, reduce your rest times, throw in interval training twice a week & you'll soon see a leaner physique. Rest & diet play a greater role than training, so keep your diet clean, cut out carbs (other than veg) after 4pm & focus upon lean protein sources where possible. Best of luck mate!

Don't fight the urge to eat...just try and be sensible...and remember to reward yourself...I leave either a Saturday or Sunday to have a small treat...

Sleep is important...I've found out that I can't eat if I'm asleep )
A strong coffee in the morning also helps...it's a great appetite suppressant

I know someone who did well on this diet. He lost a good 3 stone and trimmed up noticeably. I've given it a miss at the moment - I wanted to change the way I eat and eat a lot less meat/fat. Sounds like it's working well for you, well done! -{

I'm undecided about weights. I've been doing min dumbells of just 1kg each arm and they do tone me up. It sort of makes the flab stand to attention, which isn't too bad! However, lack of sleep can screw up a weight loss regime because uninterrupted sleep helps you burn off fat apparently. I've certainly noticed this, and tiredness during the day slows metabolism and draws one towards caffeine filled coffee and chocolate.
I seem in better shape but have lost exactly no weight whatsoever, still 12 stone 11 lbs.
Incidentally, I've just finished a booke called The Dolly Dolly Spy, Swinging Sixties Spy novel, and the guy is six foot and weights between 11 and a half and 12 and a half stone. WTF? Talk about lean for his height.
And Len Deighton's WW2 book Blitzkrieg has Hitler at 33 years old, 5ft 9in and 10 1/2 stone. I thought he was a short fella, like Napoleon (erm, not me the French general). He's about my height, okay, I'm not tall but remember 60 years ago folk were generally shorter anyway. He sounds the ideal weight. X-( And he had a full head of hair into his 50s. You know, the more I hear about that guy.... :v
I don't think I look any different yet. My wife says I look trimmer round the waist, but I'm not sure. I'm about a 1/3 or a 1/4 though what I want to lose, so early days yet. Interesting about the muscle v cardio thing as I've been taking an overweight chum to the gym with me the last 3 months. I have him doing both (weights one day, cardio next day). The first month he lost 2 stone but now he has not shifted any weight since, he was disheartened at first until I pointed out to him he is catching up with me on the weights (started very light) hence he is a lot stronger, his arms are smaller but more muscular and his gut has reduced at a ridiculous rate.
Unfortunately he boozes heavily on the weekend but I make sure he pays for it during the week,
Keep at it and in my opinion the mirror is more important then the scales!!

Yeah sounds like your putting on muscle, not a bad thing mind, however if you have a weight target do more cardio instead or do lighter weights.
Also if I remember rightly the more muscle = more calories burnt at rest

I remember something about Daniel Craig mentioning working his arse off in the gym all week and slamming down as much Guinness as he could on the weekend to relax!!
Hey - 32 is pretty small anyway. Leg raises and crunches seem to work well down there.
I've got a stone and a quarter off now, and am pretty pleased. I'm working on toning and am mainly doing press-ups, sit-ups and swimming. I hit a natural plateau - am eating a bit more of the good stuff this week, and will cut down again next week inline with starting to run.

The in went into Uniglo or whatever that clothes store is and tried on 32in waist trousers.
Flab, flab, flab... hanging over, not so much a muffin top as a muffin top yourself.
