A reporter unknowingly reveals the title while interviewing Serbian musician, Jelena Mihailovic, who is scoring the opening song. The title is the same as the James Bond novel by Jeffrey Deaver. See what clues that may reveal.

Serbian to play cello in Bond movie - At one of the many concerts the musician held in France during the Cannes Film Festival, the producers and the director of the next Bond film were in the audience, who were staggered by what they had heard and on the spot offered Jelena a chance to write the opening score for the new James Bond film, entitled Carte Blanche.

Although the 23rd James Bond film is still in its early production phase, when it comes to the music, Jelena reveals her opening score will be a mixture of the recognisable Bond theme sound and a more classical touch.

In Deaver’s “Carte Blanche” Bond's locales are India, Serbia, and South Africa. The same three locations that have been officially chosen by Bond 23 director Sam Mendes. Coincidence? Me thinks Not.

Sigh. . .not one minute of footage has been shot, yet already they're working on the score? Sorry, I don't buy it. What's more, remember how people found out the title of the last Bond film? When it was discovered all the domain names using "Quantum of Solace" had been bought out by Sony! Take all rumors with a vat of salt. . .

The Quantum of Solace title was announced in January '08. We may be waiting a bit longer for confirmation, whether the title is true or not.

More likely is that they're appropriating aspects of CB either coincidentally or as a ruse, they've done this before with the Gardner books to a lesser extent.

CB wasn't really good enough imo, a lot of it is based around surprise twists and if you've read it you've negated it. Plus the villain really is a disgusting character. Anyhow, the director's involvement, which is key, long preceded any knowledge of the novel.

Spot on ! Scores are almost always based on the material that has been shot already.
Besides that, it would be useless to shoot Carte Blanche as a film since everybody has just learned the storyline. That worked with the Fleming novels but audiences are expecting a surprise nowadays.
Just using the title would be strange, there are still Fleming titles available.

Not always, as the Harry Potter books show. But of course, CB aint in the same league.

Mind you... some part of me would sort of look forward to seeing how it pans out if it is CB (which it almost certainly isn't...) I don't really know why. Familiarity breeds content? Dunno.

I stand corrected as far as Harry Potter is concerned, Napoleon !

Not sure if I would enjoy CB as a movie; it somehow doesn't strike me as spectacular enough. Then again, the first two Bond movies didn't focus on spectacle and they worked out just fine.

if you read the article carefully, she actually says....

"I am delighted to have been given the honour to meet those important people. I have had a chance to work with some established musicians like Gautier Capucon, Gary Hoffman, Christian-Pierre La Marca, Leonid Gorokhov, but now opportunities are opening up. Contact has been made and I am expecting an invitation to go to the USA soon"

So, she's been invited to meet those important people.....contact has been made.... and I am expecting an invitation soon....

That does not = I have the contract.... I am recording the song, and it is called 'Carte Blanche' regardless of what was stated earlier.... she didn't say, the movie was called Carte Blanche, that was the reporter probably filling in what he thinks he knows. It's when people take what they read, and then take it as gospel.... rather than reading between the lines...

It probably doesn't make any difference but Carte Blanche doesn't follow the CasinO ROyale and Quantum Of SOlace 007 logo designs used for the Craig films either.

I'm hoping it'll be PrOperty Of a Lady.

Since Deaver was contracted by the Fleming estate my guess would be that they did not have the use of Eon's trademarked logo.

The article was in a Serbian publication, promoting a Serbian artist, so I would indeed, as Sir Miles said, take it with a grain or two of the proverbial salt. B-) B-) B-)

And furthermore, some would-be celebrities will tie themselves to a hot property as a way of putting their names out there. I remember in the run-up to The Dark Knight some no-name was claiming she would be playing Harley Quinn in the movie, and some legitimate sites picked up on the news. And we all know how true that was. . .

Spot on, HB...it's too easy for some no-mark and their agent to get a bit of free publicity by linking themselves to high profile projects...they then get picked up and posted online...somebody from a fan site picks up the story and reposts it there...it then gets discussed...and spread...and it gets a small ammount of creedence...

...this particular rumour just 'ain't gonna happen ;)

SHE IS PROMOTING HER NEW ALBUM
Notice the word Chance mentioned a few times AND then she mentions her NEW album several times. Pure P.R. from her handlers.

"the producers and the director of the next Bond film were in the audience, who were staggered by what they had heard and on the spot offered Jelena a chance to write the opening score for the new James Bond film, entitled Carte Blanche.

    - “I am delighted to have been given the honour to meet those important people. Contact has been made and I am expecting an invitation to go to the USA soon, and until that time, I will be working on my new album, which is due to be released in October,” said Jelena, who has also been dubbed the Serbian Vanessa May.

As Mihailovic further reveals, her new album will comprise pieces by Bach, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and Gipsy Kings, selecting a melting pot of genres, tastes, generations and styles "

Intel, especially raw intel, which is what most rumors are, is subject to verification and interpretation.

Latest intel. Possibly more accurate if as claimed it is credited to Eon Productions.

If the rumours of a mini-reboot, following the disappointing 'Quantum of Solace' that derailed the series after the fantastic 'Casino Royale', are to be believed then the title works quite well

Phew indeed. Carte Blanche was readable enough, but it didn't ring true as 007 to me. And, a series of 17 twists does not a plot make.
