Having just watched it a few days ago. I can honestly say that George Lazenby is by far my least favorite Bond and OHMSS is my least favorite film.
It's a melodrama with some action in it. Trying to turn Bond into a character who falls in love? No thank you. It really isn't so much that, but it certainly makes it stick out like a sore thumb and not in a good way in my opinion. I'd watch Spy again before I'll watch OHMSS. Spy is pretty low on my list too.

1: Brosnan 2: Craig 3: Moore 4: Dalton 5: Connery and 6: Lazenby
Hello to all. I'm a HUGE Bond fan and so glad to have found this site. Hopefully my opinion on this topic won't offend anyone, but I actually love what Connery, Moore, Brosnan, and Craig have brought to the role over the years. They all have very different interpretations of Bond, yet all four played him very effectively IMHO.
With that being said the answer to the question for me personally is going to be either Lazenby or Dalton. I know that Dalton tried to bring a harder-edged Bond to the screen after Moore's comic turn as everyone's favorite MI6 agent, but to me it really came across as flat. TLD goes on the very bottom of my Bond movie rankings every time because it's the only one I can't finish watching. The film just doesn't hold my interest at all. Lazenby was bad as Bond, but his one film did feature a milestone moment in the history of the franchise at least. So the answer for me is Dalton.

Thanks Thunderpussy. LTK was more enjoyable It's hard to pick a "worst" when it comes to Bond anyway. When I was younger my friends were into Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. I was and always have been a Bond fanatic (I'll admit it lol). I look forward to talking 007 with You guys.

I was very surprised to read ( can't remember where, I'm reaching that age ) )
That one of the things Dalton/Glen argued over ( in their big fight) was how Dalton
Wanted to keep the humor/ one-liners while J Glen wanted it more serious.

I don't dislike any, but my least favourite is Lazenby followed by Brosnan. Lazenby didn't have a chance to develop as bond, and his acting inexperience at times showed. Brosnan was ok, but just not my cup of tea compared to the rest. He was like a 'greatest hits' bond without making the role his own IMO.
No disrespect to the actor, but I least like Pierce Brosnan in the role. For me, his Bond started out in GE as a pretty boy who was too trigger happy with a machine gun, and he ended up an almost nauseating sleaze in his DAD scenes with Halle Berry. Maybe it's just that, for me, Brosnan's Bond seems in retrospect to have about him a smugness redolent of a British pop culture too pleased with itself in the 1990s.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.
I am of the "old school". "Spy" was my first Bond. I loved the Rog era. His era contained the classic Bonds. Afterwards we got Dalton which was a shock. But since I read all the books before then an angsty Bond was welcome, I loved his style. The "Living Daylights" was a revelation. The cold killer with the barely suppressed self control. He'd look at you as if wanted to devour you.
And then he was gone and we had six years of waiting.
I had noticed Pierce from Remington Steele. He coasted along with his good looks. When Goldeneye came out he did the dinner jacket, the Aston Martin, the casino, "shaken not stirred" But that was it. No acting required. he literally looked very pretty on screen. i found myself when he was on screen noticing his hair products rather then his acting.
With Goldeneye the script didn't translate to screen. "it says here" is an old acting expression when the script does not match what is being said. The trevelyan scene where Sean Bean spouts off about "Liesk cossacks being sent away" was so unbelievable as it is obvious he is acting. The trick about acting is not to show you are acting. Plus you have the casting decisions of Teri Hatcher, Jonathan Pryce, Denise Richards and Halle Berry
Now I feel confirmed with Craig. the man can act. His era is moving forward.
I do have a "least" favourite Bond
Pierce Brosnan and Goldeneye
1. For Your Eyes Only 2. The Living Daylights 3 From Russia with Love 4. Casino Royale 5. OHMSS 6. Skyfall
Additional info: I really wanted to like him back then but could never convince myself over his less-than average looks, appearance and his weepy eyes.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
I thought I would get a little fireworks going here. Who is your least favorite Bond actor and why ????
First I should note naming my least favorite Bond is like naming my least favorite steak at Ruth Christ's ( They are all great, but!!!! )
My least favorite Bond is Dalton. I really wanted to like him as Bond and I go up and down a bit with him, but to me there is just something missing with him. I just don't like his screen presence as Bond. If I was not a kid in the 70's I am sure Roger Moore would take my top spot for least favorite , but as I did , I have a soft spot for his larger than life, popcorn, comic book Bond.
Cheers
Responding to the original post, Timothy Dalton was highly and widely praised by Bond fans and by critics in general when he started, while the films came under criticism for not being as bright as the actor who starred in them. Dalton didn't get much co-operation or support from the director.
