Can anyone correctly explain how and when 'banking' works in bacarat?

for some reason, this little aspect of the game confuses me...:(|)

You will have to explain what you mean by 'banking'...? I'm not sure what you're after ?

    Try this for starters though....

    thx Sir Miles, much appreciated

In Chemin de Fer, i believe after the banker and punters make their bets any one punter can call 'bank' on the, well...bank (total amount of bets, effectively setting him or herself up for a huge win or huge loss the way i understand it)

but is this call to 'bank' done prior or after the bets? i guess this is my question.
    thx

I'm still not sure that you have it correct...it's my understanding - and I may be wrong - that the 'bank' builds up and either just the player, or the player with other people can 'cover' the banks total - with only one person playing the cards...
