The "official" announcement of the movie title is next month.

The press conference is in November 2011. The official title of the new movie will be revealed and questions will be answered. We will know for sure then who will be in the cast, but if they have any surprises, I bet they won't tell.
Bond 23 already sounds like its going to be a movie to remember. Hopefully Javier Bardem will be in it.

Cool. As to whether the movie will be remembered. I'll wait to see the movie. I had high hopes for Quantum of Solace...I really don't think the people in charge have any interest in making a big Bond movie like Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, etc. Bond is due for a big battle but we'll see.

We all know that the screenplay was re-written quickly and rushed to the studio before November 2007, before the Writer's Strike went into effect. Then the movie was rushed into production in January. They needed to get that Bond movie going. So, the story suffered. Not much plot to tell and then the director wanted the movie to be the shortest Bond movie in history. He also wanted to use real locations, like the run down Panama buildings and that dirty shell of a building for the Environment Party. Quantum of Solace just didn't click with some of the fans. They also took out tradition. No Gun Barrel at the start. No Bond...James Bond. No Shaken...not stirred. No wonderful love scene. What also bugged me was the set of the Mi6 headquarters. It wasn't familiar. The scene I thought was more awful was showing Judi Dench wiping her face in close-up and in such bad light.
I didn't care for the way Quantum of Solace ended either. Felt very cold.
I am optimistic about Bond 23. Ready to see what Sam Mendes has to bring to the table. They seem to have an all-star cast this time.

Yeah, they seem to have had some problems and the director had some explaining to do.

I am hoping that the writers' strike is to blame, as I am looking forward to the next one and would like to think it won't have the same problems. I like Quantum of Solace, but I didn't at first...

Don't get me wrong. I can sit and watch Quantum of Solace too. However, I was disappointed with it. I like Jeffrey Wright as "Felix" and their just wasn't enough screen time for Joaquin Cosio. I like him too.
After Casino Royale (2006), I immediately popped in Quantum of Solace (2008) to make it an epic adventure. The best part of Quantum of Solace was Gemma Arterton. She could have been "Miss Moneypenny"

It is quite difficult to find a Bond girl who wouldn't look far too young for our DC - unless they bring back Ursula Andress.

I was really hoping for an 'age appropriate' casting. There is a long tradition of frankly creepy casting of old(er) men with significantly younger and to some extent improbable girls. It's a real failing in my view and does not sit well with the reboot.

As I mentioned in another thread, Craig really is turning in to the New Roger Moore. :D
Oh! the Double taking Pigeons can't be far away now. :p
Not So much a reboot as a touch of Dejavu. :))
and what about all the fuss The producers made about International Womens Day, getting Poor old Craig to Drag up.
then giving him a leading lady young enough to be his daughter. Mixed messages me thinks.
I can see the PTS Bond pulls up in his aston, Outside her school. :))

But Seriously I though the Reboot was supposed to put an end to this sort of thing, Surley there must be a 30 to 40 something actress out there. Or are the Producers Guilty of showing the very same "Disrespect" to women their Informercial was telling us about. :)) Basically if your an actress and your over 25, Forget it, Your too OLD. ( unless your playing M) :))

How on earth can you compare Daniel Craig with Roger Moore. Sir Roger was a class act all the way. I loved his facial expressions. I think Roger Moore literally grew into the role. Like fine wine, he got better with age. I'm glad Roger Moore played Bond until he was 57.
I do not see Daniel Craig playing Bond into his 50's. Craig is not as witty as Roger was. I still think of James Bond as being a gentleman, with women and with men. A man's man. Bond is deboner.
If Roger Moore could play James Bond again or The Saint, I think Ruta Lee could be his Bond Girl. Anyone want to make a remake of Casino Royale (1967)?

Does anyone want to guess what day the "press conference" will be from EON Productions in November? Could it be Nov. 007, or Nov. 9 (day of USA release) or the magical day 11-11-11?

That Gives me hope that a 22 is in my future too, being that me an ol Craiger are around the same age. B-)
As for a Bibi n Rog to take place you would need a 53 to 19 swing ( in fact the actress who played Mellina WAS only 19 and Rog was 53 ) Just another reason to love ol Jimbo :D

I didn't know all of that. I went in hoping that Quantum of Solace would be one of the best Bond films ever. Especially since Casino Royale was a strong start and origin story. I was very let down to say the least. I hope everything is ok this time around.

I believe Gemma Arterton was 22 when she played Fields in QoS. I don`t remember anyone objecting to the age difference then and I don`t think it will be a problem in the next Bond.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
Could be wrong, But I don't think Gemma Arterton was the Leading Lady. :v
And still no answer to my Point about the ad "Respecting women " All the Craig fan Boys where telling us what a great step forward it was to have an Actor of Craigs Stature fighting for women to be taken more seriously. :)) Then the producers turn a blind eye to it and ( Just like all the other producers in hollywood) hire a girl young enough to be Craig's daughter as his LEADING lady. Guess they're simply " studing, western hyprocisy " :))
It seems the Older Craig gets the Younger his leading ladies, Will Bond 24 be "Kindergarden Agent" :))

It's not about 'hatin' and it's not even really about DC (In recognition of the DC is God contingent I deliberately positioned this in the context of a long tradition which predates the Golden one)
May be it's just me, but it looks and feels wrong, independent of Dan's undoubted ability to 'pull tail' 22 yes old or not. Never mind, as I hope in 23 that our boy gets a lot luckier than he has been of late, and perhaps could redress the balance with a bit of MILF.
  • 7700777007 Posts: 502MI6 Agent
Milfs technically can be of a wider age range. Cougars are the new milfs. Maybe Craig could tell a cougar to "Siiitt"... on his lap. :))

This age discussion brings up an interesting point. The age of the actors versus the age they're supposed to be playing. You have 20-30yr olds playing teens and all that kind of thing all the time on TV and movies. Who knows the age the characters are playing unless they are stated in the film? Is Bond 43 like Craig? He may look it lol. Is the leading lady playing a 22yr old?

    Discuss.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
Off course I can take a 22yr old Seriously, It's the Producers who made the Big fuss over the subject by Getting Bond to drag up. It's they who can't give the respect to an older actresss but feel the need to put younger women up against Old leading Men. :v Although they might be hoping that through Osmosis he'll suck up some youth to trun back the years.
As for Younger Women getting between the sheets with Craig, I could do a " Carry On " joke about all the flops he's had lately they'd hardly want to get between the sheets with Mr Floppy. :))
I do feel good though, After years of preaching from all the Craig fan Boys, about how the reboot was giving us the definitive take on Bond and take him in to the 21st Century, we're getting a shorter, Older looking Blonde Bond still chasing girls young enough to be his Daughter. Mabey we'll also get the slide whistle back in Skyfall.
I hope now we get a bit Less of the Sir Roger Bashing as Craig is The New Roger Moore. :)) and we have a new Bibi. :D
Also Once again could someone explain to me If Craig is simply so Sexy and such a Huge Big hit with the Ladies.
Why do so many of them stay at home when his Movies are released ? Infact why do so many men stay away as well ?
I do find it fun to read some reviews of Craig Movies from Craig fans, how the Movie was bad but it wasn't Craigs Fault.

Cowboys and Aliens, Turkey not Craigs Fault
Dream House, Turkey not Craigs fault
    Invasion, Turkey not Craigs fault

Somehow I do see a connection, even if the Craig "Bromancers" Do not :)). Still keep with it he's Bound to have a Huge Hit soon :D or Like Ben Affleck the studios will see Craig Is not a Leading Man, he's the Friend of the Leading Man. :))
But if you like Him, I'll never change your Mind. To some He's the perfect Bond and QOS made millions, Infact it's the Blueprint for Future Bond adventures, You Lucky People. :))

Since I'd take QoS any day of the week, and twice on Sunday, over any Dalton film. I'd say I may meet some of your qualifications. I'll try to answer a couple of questions, with some more questions.

Is the leading lady playing a 22y old? The Bibi actress who I guess was said on screen to be 16? even though the actress was what 19? Not sure about the specifics. Was Roger supposed to be a 53y old Bond? He looked old for sure, like Craig, is his Bond 43 already too? Who's checking ID's on these screen characters?

Regarding changes to Bond. The complaints would be even worse if they didn't attempt to keep some things as they've been before. I'm not sure what the problem is there?

Craig's looks or lack there of, have little to do with box office intake. Its safe to say Craig would probably grease a few engines, even from ladies that wouldn't know Craig from any other guy working out next to them at the gym.

A knock on Craig would be his script choices, which are questionable at best. Swinging an axe into his own foot before the film is even in the can. I'm not a Craig is god guy. So I'm fine with saying that without the right film Craig would just as easily be suited for a supporting role or even a villain. I did like Defiance and Layer Cake fairly well. That's already more than I can see for most other Bond actors and their mere mortal films outside the franchise.

    Ok the discussion can end, but not without my last words. No fallouts here. I love a debate just for debate's sake. This place wouldn't be the same, if we all agreed. I'm here for the lulz. Pots are to be shaken, not stirred. You're doing it wrong TP -{

I thought I at least tried to show a different perspective to explain your conclusions. Two sides to every story. The answers aren't that simple if you consider the bigger picture.. Films are a team effort. Some people can perform well within the film despite the overall quality. Ticket sales are not quality barometers. The highest grossing films are likely to be or become other franchises with built in fan bases already established. Harry Potter, Twilight, Transformers, Comic book movies, Disney etc. People eat these up and the actors and films don't have to be good.

Haven't seen all the Craig films you listed, but I'm sure they all deserved their numbers. The don't even sound like good films. I just hope Craig didn't have any better options, because I'm not impressed with his selections.

No excuse for Craig, he has to make do with what movies he can get for his 15 minutes. Every Bond actor has faced these odds. None seemed to really make it outside during or after their runs either, except Connery.

So Craig is not a superstar to the masses. He still can be a solid actor at times. He has his niche. I can see him going back to his pre-Bond roots after trying the few lead roles he has available.

And TP it's only fair that you have to wait as long for Craig to leave as I did Dalton. Payback's a Dalton. {[]
