Wow, that is a stunningly retro-looking shot -- the suit, the tie, all scream early 1960s. Craig's hair is almost right but certainly close enough to fool the modern movie goer.

That is another great pic, and is it me or does Craig look just like Steve McQueen here too?!! (even without the bike). my only worry is he seems to be wearing a three buttoned suit! Very Connery, but it means my two button suits a clearly out of fashion! Curse you Tom Ford!!

    Ha!
i wasnt too fond of the style (dont care for the button down collar, i dont know that Bond has ever worn these) but its beginning to grow on me; the colors are still very Bondian...

is it really a 3 button?? i'm not liking this tom ford character either...

I don't believe that the suit is a three button. The current style is almost exactly a redux of the styles of the early 1960s.

I believe it's a three-button with the top button rolled under the lapel. That's actually a very 60s look. Back then it was called "Jivey Ivy".

I haven't had the privilege of examining Mr. Craig's pants from up close, but they would appear to be sans pleats and with a very low rise.

If you think that is Daniel Craig on top of the train and his stunt double hanging off the side, you are wrong. And the train is moving.

One for those who are sceptical re how much DC really does of his stunts. I admire his physical commitment to the role. It really makes a difference if we are able to believe that it really is him doing some of this stuff. Of course we know that the really risky stuff is done by highly trained specialists. Nonetheless it aids suspension of disbelief.

    Some nice shots.
I for one wouldn't hang off it without some safety line, or at least a hard hat :))
What I find funny is in this land of health and safety. The only people not
wearing "High Vis jackets " are the two guys hanging off the train. :))
    Although to me at least.
It also shows once again how Boring Film making must be at times, to do
the same thing over and over again all day long, And not the exciting
glamourous outing I think we'd all expect.
( except for the love scenes, of course. ) :D

It's a "3 roll 2" suit jacket (so yes it has 3 buttons but is very different from a standard 3 button Jacket). Exactly the same as he wore in QoS. The top button is hidden under the lapel so unless the top 2 buttons are buttoned up you really do not notice it.

The rest of the suit is completely new though (compared to DCs last 2 films): 3 Buttons on the cuff (one undone), mid vent at the back and the absence of a "Ticket" pocket on the right side of the jacket.

Well if it is him in both shots, he had chance to change his shoes at least.

In the hanging one his shoes have what appear to be leather soles but in the sitting one they are Danite rubber...

No that's just light effect - on the picture of him hanging you can clearly see the Danite sole circle grips.

That does appear to be the case -- I wonder if three buttons allow them to not have to retool machinery as much to tailor the suits as we shift from three button back to two button as the style.

As for looking like S McQueen,

Surely you've known for years that putting on an evening suit turns every young man into James Bond? :D

And getting behind the wheel of your mum's hatchback makes the same young men into racing drivers? X-(

IMO Craig does remind one of Steve McQueen. In fact, McQueen's first wife, Neile Adams has gone on record saying that if a bio
film was ever done about McQueen's life, the only person who could play him would be Daniel Craig.

A cynic like me would say that she's bound to say that, isn't she? - the idea of a huge box office star, and James Bond, being associated with a potential movie about her ex-husband? She'd hardly want a no-name, no funding, candidate more....

But I've never got the rebellious, all-American pretty-boy vibe of McQueen in Craig. Sure, they might be similar height and build (before DC bulked-up), and general colouring, but that's about it, IMO.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I also seem to remember S McQueen was very popular with the cinema audiences and his Films
where very sucessful and made loads of money, ....................... While D Craig's Don't :))
    infact he'd be the Anti-McQueen :))
If anything with the grey suit and Grey hair He looks to me More like, Frank Drebin Police Squad !

I'm guessing that Niele Adams was basing her choice of Craig very simply on a general physical appearance and the fact that he's a good actor and could pull off the role. Just as Daniel Craig is not actually James Bond in real life, he is not a contemporary embodiment of Steve McQueen, the real person or actor. It has nothing to do with comparing their careers.

McQueen was the biggest name in films for a period of time...just his name alone could sell a film, be it good or bad. Craig could certainly do a fine job in a biopic of McQueen who was actually a very complex and dark individual with quite a colorful backstory. Again, as Olivier said, "It's called acting".

........and as usual, the usual suspects here will take any opportunity to slag DC ;) .
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I try and rise to a challenge, ;)

DC may make a good S McQueen but given his movie track record. No One would go to see it. If you want to
make a popular Biopic. I'd suggest another blonde haired Englihs actor who is a Big hit in America and has
many popular and sucessful projects under his belt., ........................................ Simon Pegg :))

Good one.......however "Girl With The Dragon Tatoo" was a big hit. One thing Craig does have going for himself: He gets to play James Bond and probably for at least another two films after "Skyfall". :))
