Personally, I'm glad they're doing some scenes in London. I wished they did more scenes in the films in England. That's why I was thrilled with the boat chase in TWINE. It was a little long and over the top for me (well of course, it was a BOND film), but it was a great extended part that showed parts of the city where the man works and lives. I know from the history of the films that most international audiences expect him to be in those exotic locales for most of the film, and I've not a problem with that. However, I would personally love to see a film where at least a third of it takes place in England - and I don't mean Pinewood interior sets of HQ or M's flat or Q's labs as they usually do. That's why I had wished they had filmed Moonraker (or redo it one day) as the novel was done. Sure some have griped about Bond being an MI6 spy who is supposed to operate only outside England, and that kind of mission is suited for MI5 agents, but again..it's a Bond film, right? They also say that they're shooting scenes at that Scottish castle, but that does not necessarily mean it's supposed to be in Scotland. They used the Scottish highlands in the helicopter chase in FRWL as a stand in for where he was actually supposed to be, so they may be doing the same trick in Skyfall.

Forum - Where people meet to discuss topics of public interest.
This being a James Bond forum, people come to discuss James Bond. A thread was started with pictures from the Skyfall set. So one would expect people would discuss the photos that were posted. People have made various comments, some are excited, some are trying to guess the plot, some are trying to see what watch is being worn and some have discussed the appearance of the actor portraying Bond. Some have noticed and are concerned the actor has graying hair, is unshaven and appears to have not slept in a couple days.
No one has said the movie is doomed; no one has insulted the actor or made personal disparaging remarks. Yet almost every DC appearance comment, including LR's simple comment that DC is aging quickly, has been followed by a swift moderator chastising. Well I am sorry, but DC does not look good in those photos. I don't know the plot of the film, maybe there is a reason for the look, but commenting just on the photos, that is my comment. I will add that Connery did not look good with a Japanese haircut, Moore did not look good in the safari jacket and Brosnan did not look good with a beard.
I will also add I have not given up on the film, I have previously stated they have an excellent cast and I have liked the director’s previous work. So a year before the film opens, I still believe the film could be good.
I'm sorry, Barry...I didn't realise that Mods were not allowed opinions...that we have to constantly wear our Mod hat and not join in the forum discussion in any way 8-)
I must have missed the post chastising Lady Rose too...
And it's nice that people are refraining from making personal disparaging remarks about DC....that makes a welcome change...
By all means comment on the pictures and discuss them...but lets try and not drag the whole film down just two weeks into filming (and thats not a comment aimed at you Barry)...

if the production is using Jaguar and Land Rovers - that means Ford are no longer involved (as with the previous 2 films), which could also mean no more Aston Martin and probably does.
Could we see Bond now taking control of a Jaguar? Maybe the new Jaguar C-X16 or XK at least?
The deal doesn't rely on Ford. It has happened with and without Ford. Aston Martin is very likely to be back given how big the brand association has gotten.

The rumour circulating now is that Bond will drive the new Range Rover Evoque. Several reliable sources are claiming.
Got any links to back that up? It was rumored before the official title launch but that was pure speculation. We all know he has been seen in a Range Rover but thankfully not the b@stardisation that is the Evoque!!
Just need to make sure that it's OK to post now ... checking that I'm not posting immediately after someone who I have a different viewpoint to.
Yes? No?
Stills reveal almost nothing about the film (as you rightly identify superado) ... especially those gleaned in the first few days of location shooting (in London, which is usually scene-setting at best these days).
As for my opinions, they are just that ... balancing out others' opposite views I'm sure, but no more less. If you don't like them, well ... I'm not looking for consensus, nor would I expect any.
Thanks for asking though.

Personally, I blame Craig for nothing...if there was anything to blame. I remember his first Bond press con and when someone asked if his hair would be dyed darker, he had to look over to Martin Campbell for an answer. For those fearing renewed DC backlashes, chill! As for the gray beard, whether it be DC, or PB or Henry Cavill or Hugh Jackman, I'd carefully and seriously wonder why, particularly for this character.
I remember how it was like during the period between DC's announcement and the CR premiere. Of course, much of the angst was due to perception based on the tabloid behind-the-scene pics we've seen and the snippets we've read about the production, which collectively did not live up to the final product; which I guess is proof to not pre-judge things. However, it got really ugly and some of the mods were the among the moderately vocal anti-Craigers (remember the half-mast pics? Do you remember who among you posted them? lol) ...all up until the premier when there was a mass about-face. Should we all have shut up then to reserve judgement until the film's release?
Yes, we only have a few pics from the first days of the shoot for Skyfall, but isn't all this speculating the fun that the diehard fans live for? Isn't speculating what keeps the threads and the forums alive? Now, dyed hair on old Rog and PB with babes 10 or 20 years his junior to pass Bond off in lower-middle age, that's one thing, but to intentionally have Bond sport a gray beard like the dog from Lady and the Tramp??? That's the stuff of yarn spinning on message boards!

If you look in most British fashion magazines that is a fashionable look these days. Obviously with each generation of 007 the movies reflect the fashions of the time. Such as Moore's Safari jacket. I personally like that look - it is a contemporary nod at the sixties heritage of Bond. I personally think Tom Ford has done well with Craig's styling as far as the clothes are concerned.
For men under 40 yes it is fashionable, I'm not having a dig I'm just saying he seems to like his trousers to stop above the ankle. take a look at his chino's in qos[ the ones he wears when he goes to Mathis's island].
I actually think DC ooks good in those photos. His hair has seldom looked as good and dark. He isn`t clean shaven, but it looks shaved and well kept to me. I know even less about fashion than I do about personal grooming, so I won`t comment on his clothing. Just my two cents.
Not sure he looks *good* in those photos....hey, I'm a Craig Fangirl :x... but I don't like the beard on him.... however as I have no clue what the context is, it's difficult to have an opinion on what this means overall for the movie.
He looks preoccupied... and as if there is a heavy weight on his shoulders... the lighting is particulary grey too.... that's all I can deduce from the few pics.... it does indeed seem fitting with the name "Skyfall"

Greetings guys:
I would like to greet you and ask forgiveness for my English, sorry.
I'm a fan of James Bond for some years, I admire and envy him sometimes, because I would keep the com, and have your lifestyle.
I would say that the first images of Skufall, the new 007 agent movie I do not like him with a beard, as James Bond has always been known to go well dressed, clean shaven.
I'm hoping the new movie with great impatience, and I wish you were at par with other more recent titles like Casino Royale, the world is not enough, for example
I say goodbye to everyone, waiting for a good time with you and learn more about our favorite hero
Is it a beard or just stubble? The combination of grey and DC's naturally blond hair makes it hard to tell from the photos. Hopefully there will be some reasonable context in the film for the facial hair. As said before, the facial hair may only be present for a very short time in the film. Also, I wonder if the haircut being so closely cropped is also related to whatever storyline explaines the "beard" and the hair will look a bit more grown out with a possible time jump in the story? I'm guessing there will be a sigh of relief on this site when the first onset shots of a clean shaven DC appear.

in DAD,
what would we have posted had the scenes where he walks into the cruise fresh from the chinese sea had been released?
Bond now sports a Geico caveman beard and is opting for a more relaxed look (pajamas!)?? this is insane!!
Here's a novel concept - how about if we wait until the movie comes out to judge whether or not it's good? Crazy thought, huh?
Watch those thoughts, BL--soon we'll take a page out of the Minority Report and start reviewing the Bond 24 that exists only in Mickey and Babs's minds!

I remember reading that for GE, Linda Hemming (?) had PB grow just a little stubble, which I guess was to make him look a bit tougher, or mature because he did still have a baby-face around that time. GE did enjoy a return of the suited Bond in full glory, which was less emphasized in Moore's later Bonds and Tim's 2 outings.

I'd like to be the first to complain about Bond 25, Craigs last. I've come to appreicate his tenure as Bond and now Hate to see him leave. Sure he's old looking but then he always was, it only adds to the realistic Portrait of a working agent. I only hope this new guy can fill his shoes.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
after the deaths of two 00 agents could bond have gone to pieces just as he did at the start of the yolt novel?....indeed have one last gasp small mission to investigate an indian based drug company called skyfall? ran by ralph fiennes...before he is booted out of mi6...with skyfall using a lot of the yolt fleming novel...including bardem as blofeld...rumour of the day!

I may have some breaking news - filming is set to take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf (a little over 5 mins from my office) http://www.wharf.co.uk/2011/11/new-james-bond-film-to-shoot-s.html. I agree it's great to see Bond back in London, I still have a view from my office of the O2 centre and it always reminds me when TWINE was filmed around the Docklands.
Off the top of my head and without even the benefit of a half-a-dozen single malts, I can think of so many reasons to explain Craig's appearance and not one of them suggest that the sartorially splendid and carefully coiffed real Bond has been sacrificed by the Axis of Evil that is Mendes/Craig/EON. Instead they all suggest that Bond's having a spot of bother either from within or without and that hints at a good and gripping plot. Although I wouldn't wear trousers that short myself, I have no idea whether this is a fashion statement...or perhaps that Bond just stole the clothes from someone else, was fed a growing solution that caused him to sprout up two sizes, or had no money and bought his outfit from a Thrift shop. However, I will not be losing sleep over it. Now, if he was wearing a Justin Bieber t-shirt...

how about a contribution to the glossary: CRAIGIRL as a synonym for a Craig Fangirl, in particular yourself ?
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Sounds good to me... although where the hell is Loeffs these days.... he came back briefly, then left again... ?:)
I'll make a suggestion in the Glossary thread :x
