Have to disagree. Not a fan of Lux at all. Seems every company they buy out just gets watered down in style and branded all over. Thought Persols were much nicer when they were Ratti, Ray Bans were much nicer when they were B&L, and OP was much nicer when they were just OP. OP's acetate frames are now made in China instead of Japan, not sure about the metal. Hate that Wayfarers(logos everywhere and cheap looking acetate) and 714's(different shape) can't be made like they used to be. RB's metals seem pretty okay though. The lens logo isn't anything the edge of a penny can't take care of.

Point is, Ray Ban might have invented the aviator, but Ray Ban is just a name now. When production moved from Rochester to Italy(or China), they ceased to be the same quality or history.

As far as the Converse analogy goes, you're right, when you want Converse, that's what you buy. But what if you want great basketball shoes, are you going to buy Chucks? No, you're going to buy something more modern, comfortable, and technologically advanced. I want better, more comfortable sunglasses than what an Aviator can provide.

Oh, to keep it on track, I like tab collars. Welcome back to the age of jive.

PM sent to avoid my accidentally big response being here. Anyways, despite the natural evolution of production, the brands still are significant to me and I'd be fine seeing them on Craig (far more than brands that aren't even sunglasses brands *cough*Tom Ford*cough*).

What glasses brands would be better for Bond, in terms of quality and cultural significance?
  • toutbruntoutbrun Washington, USAPosts: 1,501MI6 Agent
I think OP would be good, good quality, a bit unknown, exclusive...

I have heard that the shoes are actually Tom Ford, after they took apart the 'chosen' brand and model and had their own version made.

I guess we can expect to see them available for 3 times the C&J price soon.
Dont wait for your ship to come in. Swim out and meet the bloody thing.

Ok, I'm getting excited now! Maybe it's just how DC is standing next to the Aston, but the suit looks so much better in this shot. This really feels like Bond! :007)

Bah! I am trying to avoid seeing the official shots like that! Keep those in the Skyfall forum! Only poorly lit, pale Craig photos from random onlookers allowed!

    :s

Or I'll just blur my vision when shots start popping up outside the SkyFall threads. Am I being too picky and anti-spoiler here? :#

The other shots are more spoliers than this one. But the suit doesn't look any better. The jacket is about 2 inches too short, it's pulling at the button and the sleeves are insanely wrinkled. That should not happen with a well-made, well-fitted suit.

Sorry, not trying to spoil anything. This is only for discussing the suit.

Yeah, I know you didn't mean to spoil (and it isn't that revealing anyways), that is why I asked if it was maybe just me, because I know some people might be fine with it so I didn't want to set some boundary for certain if it was just my problem.

I'll just be dodging this thread now that official shots are floating around anyways as more are sure to pop up at some point!

That's wonderful Mantis! It will be great to see Bond in a Glen Urquhart check suit again. The last noticeable was in GoldenEye, though Daniel Craig wore a suit in Casino Royale with an incredibly subtle plaid effect.

I guess this is the one.

Yes it is. And I love the look of THAT suit so far, especially paired with that shirt/tie combo!

The suit is weird, I don't like the shirt and the tie is too narrow, not wide enough, which is usually Tom Ford's trademark. Looks like a H&M outfit.

OMG nms that's so funny...F&F indeed?

For our friends abroad, Florence and Fred is a clothing brand from a Supermarket called TESCO.
Really cheeky though, as ever the suits and clothes are dividing opinion...love it!

While I don't have the expertise to be as scathing as MattS, I presume that Ford and Craig and EON knew what look they were after when they planned the wardrobe, that all this is quite deliberate.

Therefore, there must be something intentional about its apparent wrongness...

    Fashion, eh?

Agreed. I doubt they mis-measured or cut the suit wrong. It is intentional and what they wanted. Maybe it looks just right to some people or the modern designer. Fashion, indeed.

I am aware of this. It's the same as the suits in Licence to Kill being too large: poorly-fitting suits as a result of fashion, and neither are particularly flattering.

I don't want to post a new topic about the "Skyfall Accessories", so I guess David can only change this thread's name. Anyway:

Isn't there a new picture of Daniel Craig in a brown pinstripe suit? I only saw a very small one.

It may have been the picture of him firing a machine gun. That, I think, is the pin stripe suit he has been spotted in already but it's just covered in dust and dirt.

There's a new Skyfall video blog out that shows a brief glimpse of Bond in a more dressed-down outfit in Shanghai. From the few seconds that we see, it looks like he's wearing a white dress shirt, black tie, black v-neck sweater & his Omega wrist watch.

Here is the video I'm referring to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oINNiB5Da3s

The outfit is seen starting at 0:39.

yeah I saw that, but tie and swapping suit jacket for sweater = still not casual enough.
