Whats the stock generally like in the C&J London shops? Im over in two weeks and will be in central London
I take a size 9, which I guess is one of the most common sizes. They didn't suggest there was a shortage, they just went to the store and got me a pair.
They also have 3 shops within 5 mins walk of each other.
I'd suggest giving them a call and asking. They may even put a pair aside for you. It was a pleasant and personal experience.

Interesting that a different Jermyn Street shoemaker has been used for each DC Bond film. John Lobb for Casino Royale. Church's for QoS and Crockett & Jones for Skyfall. I wonder which one will be used for the next Bond film? It's a great advert for the Jermyn St shoemakers who are the best in the world by some considerable distance

Good observation. I'm sure in the next film Tom Ford will be making everything. )
Jermyn Street was Ian Fleming's domain and the vendors there then - many of whom are still there today - featured in Fleming's books. So it's nice to see Jermyn Street's vendors appearing in the films...even if we're the only ones who know it!
I'm really happy to see Crockett & Jones in Skyfall. Though the quality isn't quite as high as the John Lobb Paris shoes in CR, I prefer their more traditional styles. John Lobb Paris shoes are still beautiful. Church's lasts are not as sleek as Crockett & Jones' and they are a bit overpriced. There are a number of other great Northampton shoemakers as well, like Edward Green, Alfred Sargent, Trickers, Gaziano & Girling and a few more. Most sell on Jermyn Street.
Yes, as Matt S observes, Northampton is the centre of quality shoemaking in England and where the above firms are based/originated. They just happen to have shops on Jermyn St.
Jermyn St. is famous for its shirt makers, just as Savile Row is for suits.
I posted this in another thread, but I figured I would put it here.
What about the Enjoying Death Chinos? I'm thinking Ted Baker. The ones in the picture look more like the Slichins, but the color seems to match these...
Were the Slichins ever available in the light grey color?
Received my Magnoli Istanbul Tie and Budget Istanbul Cufflinks by Herrenausstatter. Beautiful pieces!
Nice looking tie, but now that we have a close-up of the navy version from the auction that better shows the weave I wonder if Magnoli will correct the Istanbul tie to be more accurate with the grenadine look. Closeup, his tie is much different from the actual one. He jumped into it much too soon.
perhaps someone can forward Magnoli the images from the auction of the tie and see if he would be willing to adjust his tie now... after all his motto is "All garments can be made with any material, just ask!"

Just bought my pair yesterday from Orlebar Brown's new flagship store on Sackville Street - Just down the road from Anthony Sinclair.
The store manager confirmed that they provided the swimming shorts for Skyfall, and that the shorts were shortened by request from Jany Temime. He also said the shorts were recalled for some defect when it was first identified earlier in the year, as such the new 'improved' stock has just arrived and now available both online and in store
Does that mean mine have defects?? I have had mine for ages, I know that some owners had discolouration problems. I might test mine this weekend at the local pool lol

I too heard rumours of discolouration. The manager didn't divulge what was the reason, only that new stock came in 2 weeks ago - probably in anticipation of demand when Skyfall is released.
Was just in Rogersons Fine Footwear. Bought the Islays! The brown leather ones are labelled as Harry in-store, and the Islay is the same shoe in a roughed out/weathered suede. The latter is possible the one used in the movie!
By the way, the shoes are a good 100 pounds cheaper from Rogerson! So if you're lookinf for one in the UK, I would suggest that place.

I think I might just do that!
On another note, my Tetburys arrived 5 mins ago!
Just dropped off by a chinook?
Hercules! Airdrop!

Definitely worth contacting them if you want a pair to see if they have your size in stock.

Looks great, I own two pair of the cufflinks, but I contacted starck if they do a run in only silver.

SETTER THE 'SHORTER' SHORT
An icon reinvented. In reviving the 1950s swim short, the Setter has itself become a new classic.
As featured in James Bond, Skyfall.
