I emailed Crockett & Jones today, the Lodge scene boots are out of stock for the foreseeable and they don't know when the next allotment will be, though they have put more into production. Just a heads up incase anyone was going to order them. They did say they will notify anyone who emails them as to when they'll be back in stock.
For all those searching for a cheap lodge boot alternative......Found an AMAZINGGG pair of Brogue boots, almost identical to the crocket pair, same colour and exceptionally quality leather. only difference is minimal, slightly and i mean slight difference on the top of the boot where the holes pattern doesn't go straight up but tapers around the rim of the top of the boot. I am in Italy at the moment, it was a local store, great fit, good italian leather and workmanship and only 150 euros so about 120 pounds! Going to probably get a pair on Monday. If anyone interested let me know before Monday and I will get you a pair!
Looks good welshboy! Slightly off topic, but I have to ask-I'm happy enough paying top dollar for the actual Barbour jacket, Levi's jacket, etc, but when it comes to the other bits of outfits, I may just not want to buy everything else that Bond wears. My question is, if you're paying for the likes of a N.Peal jumper, does it 'wear' any better than say one for 20 pound on the high street. I mean if I wear both jumpers regularly and toss it in the wash or whatever every so often, will the colour fade, the wool 'bobble', etc, on the more expensive any less quickly than the cheaper option?
Hey guys, couldn't resist and had to buy them, ended up getting a good deal on them, they still have a few pairs left as follows 1 pair of size 40, 2x 41, 2x 42 and 4x 44. The guy was really nice and turned out to be a Bond fan so he sold me them for 130euro ( 100pounds!) The fit is excellent, very comfortable and I can see why they will have chosen these kind of boots for the skyfall scene. The quality is awesome and they are made in Italy by a british company called wexford. If anyone wants a pair, I will be passing back through that area on sunday.

Those are really, really nice, hard to find nice stuff like that for that sort of money in Canada ...

It depends on the composition of the sweater. I have been warned in the past that cashmere will pill over time but my one expensive cashmere sweater (in line with an N. Peal) hasn't pilled at all over the 12 years that I've had it.
My understanding is that the more you mix in synthetic materials the more the sweater develops the "fuzz" that some people take off with a "sweater shaver" - yes, these do exist! I have some merino wool sweaters that have not yet developed that fuzz over many years. I have a couple of wool/acrylic blends and only one of them has "fuzzed" and pilled, and that was a very inexpensive one.
My secrets, if I have any, is that I always hand wash my sweaters and I do not do that very often. I don't sweat into my sweaters so cleanliness doesn't appear to be a concern. The other thing is that they are folded loosely with no pressure against each other, rubbing against each other on hangers or in a tightly packed drawer can lead to that fuzzing and pilling, I'm told.

I agree, some things can be bought at good quality and for less, with something like the N peal sweater, I mean you are paying designer prices for a sweater in the end, there is no design to it like the Barbour or the peacoat, it is a sweater and for that price you could get something from Armani, I feel like you get the pieces that are important then the stuff like the undershirt or scarf...blah.
Man, seeing the Barbour on Ebay for three times what I paid (and the LVC for over double what I paid) is alarming! I don't recall this kind of frenzy during CR or QoS!

Thanks for the advice thelordflasheart. I also do that with some of my more clothes I want to keep 'good' for longer-hand wash them. And try not to wash them as much.
None of the sweaters should be "tossed into the wash" - the sweaters are both rather delicate. If that's your routine, definitely go for budget alternatives. You can probably buy 6 Banana Republic sweaters for the cost of the N Peal.
Well, I certainly wouldn't be 'tossing' a 200 pound jumper in the wash, HalfHitman HalfMonk, so don't worry about that! At the minute, like everybody I suppose at the time of year, is trying to pay off bills, etc, so just trying to see what I can afford before splashing out on the real things, or budget alternatives.
I hear you. I have to say I don't love the N Peal for the money. It feels nice but it's less than fitted. My small is very baggy on me. This is after the Bobby in small was SUPER tight on my frame.

Was just on the site there and even though they are only taking pre-orders, there is size XS as an option. Maybe you could exchange yours for a preorder XS?
Just a shutout for Alec (alphaagent), he's truly a class act. He worked very hard to get me a set of alternative skyfall lodge boot, unfortunately, the italians made it impossible to export the shoes (and I suspect pretty much everything else). After a few back and forth PMs, sent paypal payment and he couldnt get the italian post to ship out the boxes. They were asking for a certificate of manufacture stating that the shoes were not made of dodo or polar bear or something, and since italian manufacturers do not provide those certificates, italians cant export their own products. And thats why Italy is almost brankrupt.
Have had a few no shows on replies for the cufflinks, anyone who is interested pm and I will ship them tomorrow for you.
LOL Thanks Joab
your welcome, I am sorry it never worked out in the end. for the others to cut a long story short, it seems any goods that are clothing shoes etc have a very tight regulation for border control between Italy and the US, half because of counterfeit goods and half because of illegal trade of illegal materials such as rare or extinct animals. If you are intending to send anything like this (and I had marked the shoes as gift) then you must have a certificate stating what kind of material they are made off! Just in case anyone is travelling through Italy and sees something that looks Bond like and decides to ship it to a fellow member in the states. Funny thing is I sent some of the cufflinks out today and no problems. incidentally they said if i sent the shoes regular post I could and they didn't need any documents...but it would have no tracking number nor insurance. God bless Berlusconi!!!
So I was cruising in Auckland when I spotted a white scrabble mug with the letter W and another one with the letter X. I rushed in and asked if they had one with the letter Q on it. The woman replied with, "no sorry...blah blah blah, but we can order one in do you live here?" I said no and walked out, I'm not fussed it was just if I saw one if you know what I mean.
