I'd still be pretty shocked if doesn't turn out to be Adele.

    Same here Sir Miles...
I think it is wise too pick a famous singer, and no one is as famous as Adele at the moment

Why not make history and let Craig himself sing the theme song.

Why not make history and let Craig himself sing the theme song.

why not go the whole hog and get all the bond actors together in some kind of 'live aid' style bond theme rendition?

Rofl, i doubt it any of them could sing anyway, especially Connery.

Roger Moore might starting coughing in the middle of it. But Pierce can sing can't he? In Mamma Mia I thought he sung fine

Gee thanks, i just got an image of the Bond actors singing "you can dance! you can fly! having the time of your life..." after reading that.

So, here we are 50 days away from the movies release and no mention of the Artist performing the title sequence. This worries me a bit. It worries me because 1) there may not be a gun barrel 2) No gun barrel might mean no Pre-Title sequence, with no pre-title sequence means no title sequence. I hope I'm 100% wrong on this. It's just how I feel at the moment.

And no title sequence means no post title sequence (i.e. the movie). Damn, this is bad news. Maybe we can get Alicia Keyes and Jack White back for an encore.

I cannot vouch for the gunbarrel but there is a pre-title sequence, and Daniel Kleinman has already been revealed as working on the title sequence. It does seem unusually late in the day not to know who will be singing the title song. For me, this gives credence to the rumour that they are waiting for Adele to give birth before announcing her. Apparently, her baby is due some time within the next few days.

When would she have sang it? I know she was (hinting at) doing the demo supposedly almost a year ago. Perhaps it was recorded just before she got pregnant or in the early months? She wouldn't be recording it this late, I wouldn't think.

The movie has to be cut and finished in the next few weeks I'd imagine and the title sequences are usually elaborate computer sequences synced to the music.

Adele would most likely have recorded the title song a couple of months ago. As you said, the title sequences are usually elaborate computer sequences synced to the music, and that takes time.

That's possible. I had just assumed she wasn't working during the bulk time of her pregnancy.

Mabey she'll try and work in some of the screams and wails of childbirth
into the theme song, just as J White and A keys did with AWTD. :p

Well, that's good news at least. Let's hope we get more news in the next couple of weeks. To me it would make sense to have a portion of the title song play for promotion of the movie.

I wouldn't worry about gunbarrel logos & main titles. They'll be sorted in plenty of time. By all accounts Maurice Binder used to work on his title designs right up until the eleventh hour. The suspicion was that being a bit of a control freak it meant he wouldn't have to change anything. John Glen said on one of his audio commentaries that they had to splice his designs into complete prints for various markets on several occasions.

I keep hearing backing for Adele, and to be truth I think she would do a great job. However my number 1 choice would be Lana Del Rey, I think her song Born to die is actually quite 'Bond-like' as it is! especially the name :)

Based on this, I don't think she'd mind.

Having just been named British GQ's Woman of the Year, I'm still enjoying her. She was indeed on lists as a potential choice for SkyFall's theme. Many suggest that Born to Die, and especially the styling of Del Rey in the video is intended to be partly Bond, 1960s, and Nancy Sinatra inspired with Del Rey's preferred cinematic scope in her songs and videos. The French shooting locations on the video are great to me, as well.

Hard to deny that she certainly has the torchlight singer and 60s Bond girl inspiration to some degree in the video (particularly in the vamped up night gown and glamour hair).

That said, I wouldn't mind Adele one bit. She has a great classic European sound to me that could really spin up well alongside some strings for a Bond theme.

    Now we are getting silly.
Can we just get on with the task in hand?
Who would we like to sing the theme tune?
Not long to go until we know the answer!
