    Now we are getting silly.
Can we just get on with the task in hand?
Who would we like to sing the theme tune?
Not long to go until we know the answer!

    Florence & the Machine.

    8-)

Listen to her latest album, particularly No Good About Goodbye. It's very clear that she can still sing.

What about Daft Punk? Recently ive been thinking the song "Harder,Faster,Stronger" by Daft Punk would be a good theme for Skyfall, it would go with the "Rebirth" storyline of Skyfall.

    Daft punk?

The shatner suggestion was better than this.

What's the backup idea? Bring back madonna? :))

Agreed. I don't think minigeff is ever really out to be rude. He's known to have a sense of humor. He is the man behind The Rant Box, after all.

And quite frankly, I assumed the Daft Punk suggestion was meant to be humorous in the first place.

Keep the attitude light and fun. That's generally where people are coming from when they talk as fans here.

Now, on-topic, I think Shirley Bassey still sounds like herself having just listened to recent stuff. I wouldn't mind her again, though I'd probably lean towards Adele.

Oh god, here we go again!!

No, I never set out to be rude. Life's too short to bicker with strangers. I come here for some light chat and a laugh.

But daft punk could suck crap through a garden hose. :p

We're all entitled to an opinion, you're obviously a fan, I obviously ain't. Well, actually I was once, for 0.68 seconds ;)

Moving on, I wouldn't mind a song written by and/or performed by Noel Gallagher, but I know that ain't gonna happen.

Let's face it, there's only one name that keeps bouncing back up.

Bono and the Edge wrote Goldeneye for Tina Turner.

I know. But it's not the same to me as U2 themselves performing a track.

According to The Sun, Adele visited the Abbey Road studios earlier this month, where the soundtrack for Skyfall is being put together. The article suggests that she's been recording with Thomas Newman.

Adele to sing the new bond film theme - the world's most well known and talked about best kept secret.

I honestly dunno why they don't just come out and say it now, it's not exactly gonna be a huge surprise when it breaks.

    According to this story...

    http://www.nme.com/news/adele/66064

...Adele is recording the closing song for SF. Which would appear to leave open the question of who is doing the main title theme, unless the closing theme is a reprise of the opener, they're doing something instrumental, etc. We should have clarification before long, as the release gets closer.

How about Muse performing the title theme and Adele the closing theme? Well, stranger things have happened.

Regarding something instrumental. Tony Lewis, Musical Editor on Skyfall tweeted a couple of days ago that the theme has a vocal.

I've always thought that the closing credits theme was just the title them except for CR and QOS when it was the Bond theme.

Well, there have sometimes been different songs for the opening and ending titles: OHMSS, TLD, TND, etc. Most notable to me is k.d. Lang's excellent "Surrender," at the end of TND, vs Sheryl Crow's opener (both of which I enjoy very much).

Interesting that they're specifying that Adele's is the closing theme...to me, it suggests that there's still a surprise lurking.

Possibly...but Adele is too 'hot' right now NOT to use her to sing the title track...I would be AMAZED if she doesn't...

I quite agree; hence my confusion. Although, to be honest, I'd love it if they opened SF with an all-new interpretation of the Bond Theme. Would be a nice way to celebrate 50 years, since DN is the only other film to use it as such.

I hope Adele isn't given any artistic freedom on the track, otherwise I'll be crying in to a pillow with an overwhelming urge to stuff my face with ice-cream and malteasers before the first scene. 8-)

We won't be able to get the loss of Vesper out of our heads if she has her way with the lyrics. She sure knows how to convey emotional rock bottom in lost love.

Thankfully, she also can nail entertaining songs, too, which is where I'd guess they will try to stay with a Bond title song.

Yes...they really need her to just belt out a big vocal (of which she's very capable) over a lushly-orchestrated brassy tune incorporating Bondian cues. Pretty much a guanteed chart-dweller, IMO.
