Cool Clothes In cafe Press uk Site.

not sure wether any of you are aware of "Cafe Express" in the uk now, its a site, that used to be exclusivly American, dealing in Gifts really, unusual or specific.

I came upon part of the Site, with a 007 section, and Im ordering a hoodie type Jacket and some "T" shirts, for Christmas. Among the logos, and colours you can shoose from are:

M.Y. Disco Volante
Drax Industries
Zorin
Auric Enterprises
The DB5
Pussy galores Flying Circus
Spectre logo

Quite. I've not been here that long and already I've seen hundreds of accounts created on the same day as their first post which coincidently is an attempt to canvass and attract business through the guise of recommendation. Usually cheap and distasteful stuff too. I doubt any discerning Bond fan would purchase something like that example linked by minigeff. It's awful.

What's with companies thinking that is a good way to do business? Just buy ad space like a respectable company and I won't feel like the company is a dirty intruder.

Well, to me, there s a difference between:

    - a company, which bases its business on the illegal use of protected pics and trademarks and endorses themselfs under a private name

    - a company, which respects copyright and advertises themselfs with their company name such as FE does here for example
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

Not quite sure what the problem is here, Im sure cafe Press is quite legit, I bought a donation subscription for a fringe interest site from them some years ago, found them quick and helpful.

I doubt very much that they could sell unlicenced items, because they do an awful lot of film memorbilia, meaning, they would be out of business very soon, by infringing copyrights, unless they had lawful permission to use The logos on items advertised for sale, being, as the rights of most of 007 logos belong to Eon-MGM & United Artists. Of course, The actual garments are probably made in another country, not Cafepress themselves, but they are still liable for any infringements.

Actually I quite like the design shown on Minigeffs link, but no idea where It originally came from, at first, I thought it may have been The family crest from OHMSS, obviously its not.

But to say there awful, I think thats a bit harsh. :v I live in Blackpool UK, where our town has the highest number of souvenier shops and stalls probably in the UK. A lot of those are cheap tac, and a good many have been caught by Trading standards over many years here, selling fake nike shoes, sportswear, fake Sports watches & software.

This company is open and transparent, so Im quite happy to purchase a Disco volante T Shirt, as I have already purchased from this company before they opened a UK based site.

As far as Bondtoys remarks saying they endorse themselves under a private name, makes no differance, The Logos are the Intellectual property of MGM -UA in law. To say that Cafepress.uk is not aware of there obligation to make sure they have legal rights to sell these items, is , in my book a little niave.

Dag is an Australian and New Zealand slang term. In Australia, it is often used as an affectionate insult[1] for someone who is, or is perceived to be, unfashionable, lacking self consciousness about their appearance and/or with poor social skills yet affable and amusing.

This isn't a moan or a gripe but rather a question out of curiosity but why does your post above contain a link to Nike's web site?

Well, I have been called worse than "naive" in the past. As I see, from where it's coming, I'll simply ignore it.

And now, here is my lesson for you today:

So, I basically said, that Cafepress is well aware of their obligations but they don't care and breach them!

That's a huge difference to what came out of your interpretation.

So, before calling me naive, make sure, that you read and understand, what I am writing.

    you tell him markus.

personally, this cafepress bollox looks like someone went through a google image search and raped every bond related (and that'd be generous as some are so minutely related, a v8 vantage for instance? what?) image and then decided to stick it on a t shirt.

there's eon owned stuff, theres also privately produced artwork on there, and i doubt very much that eon have endorsed any of this tat.

im not bothered whether this ruffles any feathers, but it looks crap, i bet it is crap and wouldnt swap one of my craps for any of that shyte on that cack-arsed webshite.

Cafe press is a no-go for me. I have known about them for years and don't trust their quality. They basically just print a whole image file, whether they have rights to or not, onto shirts without even making any quality check. They don't test out any of the images or fix them before selling. It is basically a gamble on hoping that the thing comes out okay.

You could have a picture of a red balloon on a white background that you want on a white t-shirt. A quality shirt would print the balloon and the shirt would be the white background. Cafe press prints the background anyways. So you have a giant white square printed around the balloon that doesn't match the shirt. It's just things like that which make it look like junk to me. Plus they don't monitor their images well.
